I have just come back from the TPS, loved the K-1, I was impressed with the K-1's noise (or lack of) at ISO 128000. I feel a dent in the bank balance coming.

Also got a Ricoh/K-1 T-shirt

If I recall correctly, a 50mm lens on Pentax crop sensor has a 1.5 * magnification, making giving you in 35mm terms a 75mm focal length, does anyone know if a non-FA lens will have the same crop factor on the K-1?

Sorry the subject should say non-FA

Looks pretty good to me, what do others think?
The detail on zooming is pretty damn good!

So is a mankini formal enough to shot a wedding?

Thank you all for your advice, I think I will grab me a Tamron, plus just got a bonus from work to help pay for it

If your interested, below are a couple of my older gig/event shots

Over the last couple of years I been doing a bit have event and gig photography and some of the venue frown on using flash. I normally go with either my K5II or K3II with the Pentax 50mm F1.8 or Pentax 35mm F2.4. The 50mm is brilliant at low light but I find the 35mm is not quite fast enough.

I have been looking at a fast zoom lenses, the one that stands out on price is Tamron SP 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II LD, but I fear that F2.8 might not be fast enough.

I also have a very informal wedding coming up, so a fast-ish zoom would be very useful. I would probably use the fast zoom on the K5II and pair it with the Pentax 18-135mm on the K3II (+ Pentax flashes)

Has anyone used the Tamron or have any other options in mind?

thank you,

Very well done, I have been doing some gig photography over the last 2 years and results vary from venue to venue.

For the few gigs I was using K-m with 18-55mm which was completely hopeless. I now have a K5IIs (and a K3II) and the 50mm F1.8 which can be a little close at times but does the job well.

Does the image look ok on another computer screen, you could try printing it on one of those self service machines in boots/tescos etc, see if you get the same result.
