Yep been a big fan of Steve Mc Curry's for years.
He used to use Pentax many many years ago.
His image of the Afghan Girl with the green eyes is his most recognised image.
But his books "Portraits' and 'The Unguarded Moment' sit on my bookshelves along with many hundreds of others.
I rate him as being among my top ten greatest ever photographers.

Oh well said Greynolds.
I tend to find that I need the beer when looking at the exposed results.
Helps me understand just what was I trying to do.

Algernon and Pentaxophile are spot on.
I keep mine in their original cannisters and boxes in sealed containers in the freezer.
I get film out 24 hours before use and let it thaw out at room temperature.Haven't had a problem in over 40 years . I also keep light sensitive paper in the freezer as well.

All of the above is excellent advice.
Then when clean store them in airtight containers along with packs of silica gel in a dry, even temperature.
Ours are stored in their original boxes and then placed in airtight boxes
which are kept in the dark room/ light room. No issues in over 40 years.

"It ain't what you've got, it's the way that you use it"
Now, where have I heard that before?
Lovely images.

Oh what a joy to behold.
Superb images especially "Sleeping Lion"
All of them are good, in fact much much better than good.
The image of the domestic cat is a true reminder of their predator
ancestry.
Of course Sigma lenses can't be anywhere near as good as marque lenses

I cannot agree more strongly with Cabstar's observations.
We have a very busy and lucrative wedding photography business which
last year resulted in 41 wedding commissions. Some big some small.
We are on the 'preffered list' of most of the local up market wedding venues because, we are told, we offer a top quality service at a fair price. We always ask for feedback from our clients and listen to what they say.
Our most often heard comment is "....you listened to what we wanted, and didn't try and rule the day" Our second most common observation "....you were so efficient and unobtrusive."
Yes we have had complaints, in 1,613 weddings we have had two.
One where the bride some weeks after the ceremony started complaining about everybody involved. Caterers, florist, limo hire, ceilidh band everything. We soom learnt that they were trying it on asking for reductions from everyone concerned.
The second complained that out of 81 shots of the bride, her eyes were closed in three of them!
However we must be doing something right as we have no need to spend very much on advertising and we are very busy.
Last year we photographed weddings in the Channel Islands,Bedfordshire,
Kent, Hertfordshire and all over the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Several times we have taken bookings from couples who were prepared to organise their day around dates that we were available.
We also get many bookings from the same family & friends, we have photographed three sisters and a brother on four seperate occassions.

This year we have bookings confirmed and deposits paid for weddings in St Petersburg, Hong Kong, and Kyoto in Japan.
Our golden rule?

"Listen to the client, you have two eyes, two ears and one mouth, use them in that proportion"

Our biggest bug bears?
In order of irritability (1) The brides's mother (I could write a multi volume book on how difficult they can be)
(2) The couple concerned changing the job spec after payment and not expecting to pay more. One couple wanted a fairly minimal service to start with and then with three weeks to go started asking for extras that involved twice the amount of work and 150 extra miles of travel and thought we were being unreasonable when we upped the quote. Luckily the bride's father was a business man and whole heartedly agreed with what we asked for.
We have had to endure cheques that bounced, family squabbles, one one occassion leading to fisticuffs. Brides fainting at the altar, grooms being hit in the mouth with a stone (young child picked up fallen confetti and launched it at the happy couple along with a pebble, two hours in casualty and three stitches later the reception continued)
A good wedding photographer is worth their weight in gold.
Unfortunately some wedding photographers do think they are prima donnas and that the whole day should revolve around them.
They need to re think their game.

Thanks for all the advice lads.
Just to clear things up it isn't a relative of mine that has passed away.

When I next see the bereaved I will no doubt opt for the K2 with 50mm f1.2 lens.
I will try and tactfully mention that there may be a market for people to have the other cameras and lenses,
people who would continue to use them.
I hardly knew the chap, I just popped in to see him a couple of times because his wife asked me to.
I knew he had an interest in photography but that was all.
It seems there are boxes of scientific instruments, microscopes, compasses, sextants etc from the late 1700's onwards. Plus a collection of model trains.

Ahhh!
I have the Fibrenyte version and my wife has one in canvas.

I have to say the Fibrenyte one does seem to be more weatherproof than the canvas version.

Without going into a long and boring story I have been offered the choice of one of the following camera bodies, K2, Kx, Km, K1000
and a the choice of one of 7 lenses. The balance of the kit going to the deceased's grandchildren as mementoes
of their grandfather. The choice of lens is obvious, the 50mm f1.2. But which body? They are all in truly mint - condition with only the K1000 showing obvious signs of wear. I am very tempted to opt for the K2or the KX.
Either would complement my LX. Any thoughts?
There may be a possibility of two or maybe three more lenses of which the 24mm and the 135mm seem to be the obvious choices The 28mm and two 50mm f1.7's could be offered to the grandchildren along with the other bodies.
All the cameras come with Pentax never ready cases and the lenses all have UV filters and lens hoods and are again in excellent condition. Everything was always kept in foam lined aluminium flight cases and hardly used.
Advice please.
