Hi Billy, when you download the firmware, there's a file attached which tells you how to go about it.

I understand your concerns re updating the camera and the warranty, problem could be that Pentax will come back and say, " need to update the firmware " to see if this solves your problem,

As long as you've not modified anything i.e within the software, if I was in the position, I would update and see if it resolves the issues.

Cheers

For safety, you could use " wireless triggers " to trigger the flash units, there's loads available, from cheap £15 a set to Pocket Wizards at £250+

Thank you all for your suggestions, think it's between the Pentax 17-70 and the Sigma 18 - 200, the sigi is an almost direct replacement for the ones that Kn.......d and the Pentax gives me wider max aperature options but without the range.

Thank you for your suggestions so far, what about the IQ of the Sigma's compared to the Pentaxes ?

I'm looking for a new Walk-about Lens, trusty Sigma 28-200 given up the ghost, focus ring u/s, had it for about 10 years, options I see for a budget of about £450 are :-

Sigma 17-70 F2.8/F4
Sigma 24-70 F2.8

Pentax 16-45 F4
Pentax 17-70 F4

I liked the reach of the 200, but was the image quality affected by the range ? I do have the 100mm above range covered, but it's big and heavy, generally used for air show stuff.

General subjects are Landscapes, Portraits, Studio Work, Macro, Wildlife and Sports / Air Displays.

Your thoughts and comments on the 4 lenses above would be appreciated, see below for what I currently have.

Alan, take a look at Calumet's own brand flash heads. I'm quite impressed by them.

My cheapie Chinese ones which seem almost identical to the pro-line ones are starting to prove unreliable. The modelling lights aren't bright enough.
Had my cheapie ones as above for over 3 years, gets regular monthly use and still good, agree with modelling light brightness, but you can cater for that, just purchased another 3 from Link Delight, google them or go via fleabay,

Have done everything I've asked of them + been used for the Cheltenham Camera Club Studio Group sessions on a monthly basis.

Agree with above, but could also have been Metz Flash not sync with K5, did you set sync speed manually ? batteries charged ? did you try with built in flash ?
