Although I suppose in theory if there was a spectacular deal that SRS couldn't match, or if they didn't stock something I needed, I might not buy from them, but otherwise, I can't see myself going anywhere else for camera gear.

I'm not talking about it being a nice to have. I'm talking about, how many people actually do a significant proportion of their photography in conditions that demand either a weather sealed camera and lens, or alternatively a waterproof cover?

Just curious

Edit... doh, I can't seem to edit the typo in my last option. If a passing mod could kindly stick an 'i' before 'rrelevant' I'd be grateful. And perhaps edit this edit out too, many thanks!!

Maybe they're selling their photocopier business.

Alan Marlow LINK

+1 for Alan Marlow.

Nice guy, I've had a couple of things done by him. Reasonable prices, good work.

Lives a couple of miles from me so very handy.

I keep forgetting to turn SR back on after using the 50-500mm OS Sigma ... although a lot of the time I also forget to turn it off and end up using both stabilisation systems together.
Yes so do I - I'm very puzzled why the results aren't bad.

In theory, the sensor SR should put back in what the lens OS takes out, but I've never ended up with dreadful shake in the images as a result.

The communication between body and lens isn't clever enough to note when the OS is on in the lens, surely?

Not quite sure how all that dab, dab, dab (and in the video he was pressing quite hard) is much easier than a wipe with a wet-clean swab.

Not to mention the cost.

After two years, my K-5 finally has a couple of dust spots that don't shift with the auto-clean, which I've had set to operate on start-up since I've had the camera.

I still have the swabs and fluid since I cleaned my K10D sensor. It's a really easy process, people shouldn't be scared of it.

That is very funny.

I wonder which is more likely - that someone at Ricoh has a sense of humour, or that the web page is automatically generated from a list of items which are mutually compatible, and a minion somewhere has assiduously updated the database, entering all the lenses compatible with the TC?

My bet would be on the latter.

A 54MP FF sensor would have about the same pixel density as the 24MP APS-C sensor in the K3, so I see no reason why it couldn't be made with current technology.
Smegs will still be moaning about high-ISO performance though

Historically, Pentax have been very slow to bring out fast-focusing, quiet lenses. That's all it is, really.

It's unfortunate that until the K-3, quick autofocus was never one of Pentax's main priorities, so I guess the pressure to update the lens range to address this specific issue was never there.

Since Ricoh took over, it's become clear that a lot of investment is taking place in the brand, so over time, I'd expect to see more DC lenses arrive on the scene. I certainly hope so - the 18-135, for instance, one of the DC ones, is extremely quick and quiet by Pentax standards. That said, the 20-40 is not especially quick, probably because its focus throw is quite long. It has always been the case that the longer the focus throw, the slower the lens to focus.

By the way, just out of interest, what led you to switch to Pentax from Nikon?
