Definitely a senior moment

Just had a distressing morning thinking a body had a fault, it wouldn't lock focus. Cleaned contacts, tried different lenses, the works. Focus switch had been knocked to AF-C.

doh!

Almost as bad as mine a couple of days back.

The rear wheel on the body would not do anything! The front was fine for changing exposure time, but I could not alter the aperture. Went into the menu and changed the functions - still nothing. I could review an image, scroll through them, but not zoom.

So, as I had the grip attached I tried those - front wheel, fine, rear wheel fine! Back to body and the rear was then working.

All I can think was that I had nudged the one on the grip and it was sitting midway between two positions and that was locking up the body.

K10D by any chance?

I've gone to take an image, hand held, a few times, and got the 2sec beep beep beep because I had been using timer to turn off SR. Now it's set to "forget" and revert back to no timer/SR on after switching the camera off and then on again.

I keep forgetting to turn SR back on after using the 50-500mm OS Sigma ... although a lot of the time I also forget to turn it off and end up using both stabilisation systems together.

Yes so do I - I'm very puzzled why the results aren't bad.

In theory, the sensor SR should put back in what the lens OS takes out, but I've never ended up with dreadful shake in the images as a result.

The communication between body and lens isn't clever enough to note when the OS is on in the lens, surely?

Travelled 75 miles to photograph a rugby match and left both camera bags sitting on the dining room table at home!!
Never mind the pubs were open

Both the K10D and the K20D had a little problem where if you didn't turn the grip wheel fully it would stick halfway between clicks and kill the body rear wheel. First time it did it to me I thought I had broken the camera (my first DSLR and it was only a few weeks old).

Talk about panic
