I use the Manfrotto MN-393 which can be had for around £100 for my Sigma 500mm f/4.5 and find it excellent. I can move the lens and camera around with one finger and it stops where I put it. For some reason they bill it as a monopod head, but it works really well on a tripod.

50-135mm (~6 months) and 300mm (from release) - no problems.

I know focus is manual, and presumably exposure also (in other words, no automatic adjustment if the lighting changes), but are there any other drawbacks?

Focus is manual, however you can enable auto-exposure in video which does cater for lighting changes.

Lovely photo Don.

Terry, we do have them (Norway as well as UK) but you have to look hard for them:

I must say that the new version is really very good (DS Pro). I've been playing with it a bit now and on a multi-core CPU it is much much faster than v3. I also really like the new intelligent dodging feature - really useful when processing macro objects with a lot of flash.

I had the green line in the sensor problem as I mentioned in a previous K-7 post and it was reproducible. I sent it back to SRS for an exchange and the new one is fine. From the anecdotal evidence that I've read so far, it only seems to have happened with a few of the first batch of cameras.
