I agree with Mike. Of the macro lenses you can currently get new, it's probably the best, especially given its reach. The only other current that I'd like to play with is the Canon MP-E65mm (if there was a Pentax equivalent), but that's a very specialised lens.

It's good to know that yours is OK as they would have been from the same batch. It seems that those that have had theirs replaced haven't had a recurrence of the issue.

When I get the replacement and test I will be sure to use a different PC as well to rule out as many things as I can. I did check with two different makes of SDHC card to that end.

George, I remember that happening. My main doubt with that is that the problem is reproducible only under certain strict conditions rather than a general intermittent or continuous problem under varying circumstances. Prior to playing with video I have shot several hundred images, none of which show this.

It stayed in the same place. It seems related to the temperature of the sensor. I tested with a short video and it was fine. With a longer video is showed this problem. It does go away after a short while, presumably after the sensor has cooled down a little. I didn't try a simple off/on again. Part of the problem was that it wasn't immediately apparent on the LCD only after downloading and viewing the images. I can't do any further tests as it's now in the post

BTW, I do know that the photo I posted is under-exposed, that is intentional to more easily demonstrate the problem. It can be seen more faintly in properly exposed images as well and is quite visible with macro shots at 100% which is a pain for me as I often heavily crop.

John, you might have to turn up your contrast/brightness. It runs down the centre of the image from top to the bottom and is only ~1 pixel wide.

Tel, I've just sent it back to SRS for a replacement body.

I had to return my K-7 today with a faulty sensor It's the same as has been reported here. Shot a five minute video and then subsequent photo's shot immediately afterwards have the solid green stripe down the frame. It's most easily seen if you heavily underexpose a shot of a dark surface. The effect did disappear after a few shots. I was able to recreate the problem.

I do hope it's not a design issue and is simply a bad batch of sensors and that the replacement will be OK. I'd suggest anyone with a K-7 check theirs to ensure that it doesn't exhibit the same flaw.
