Nice set Barrie, of the cars the first is my favourite but like the others have mentioned the portraits are great.

Nice set Carl, shame I couldn't make it, although Portugal was quite nice!

Nice set Simon,

I can only view them on my phone at the moment as I'm on my jollies. The flat out one catches my eye along with 10 and 11. Will give them a proper look on my return.

I usually default to somewhere between 1/100 and 1/160 for cars. Not sure where I'd start with cyclists. 1/60, perhaps?
Thanks Simon , I think I got my best panning pictures around 1/80 so your suggestion seems pretty much spot on. The main problem I found as opposed to cars is that on the inside of a bend you're too close to the action to pan effectively, for me anyway (in fact you have to be careful not to stick your lens overt the railing too far).
No 1 and 8 are all shot from the outside of the bend, no's 9 and 11 were shot from the inside but using flash which froze the action and made it a bit easier but was hit and miss composition wise. I deleted loads of shots !

Went to the Sheffield Hallam Cycle Grand Prix in the city centre last night.

A nice night but lots of shadows and getting a bit dark by the end of it so I had a play with flash.

Pictures taken with K3, K5iis and Pentax Fisheye, Sigma 70-200 and Pentax 17-70
