Wedding registrars vary from the really helpful to the self centred you can't do anything, our local registry office are marvelous, usually only rule is not to take photos of the registrar and no photos of the actual real signing and this happens a lot so they usually have a dummy book at hand. Usually not allowed flash in the registry office.

Ask the couple for a shoot list and order it so there is the least amount of movement of people so I always do the couples with parents, move the grooms parents out for the couple and bride parents then bring them back in and let the bride parents walk out of shot, also give the shoot list to the best man chief brides maid to help rustle people up, your couple will love you for this.

I also always start with the group shot first do those not on the shoot list can go get drunk, so again stick the shoot list up in a visible area

Not going to get into gear or settings just try and be a people person and don't be afraid to get bossy if needed, if there's an uncle bob, speak to him tell him you've been paid to do a job and if he wants some shots tell him to keep his camera down and you will invite him to take some shots when you have finished otherwise they will ruin all your shots if he stands alongside you guests will be looking all over the place.

Enjoy it the day goes fast

To be honest I'd rather they did not focus on improving their marketing, else we'd see a price jump of circa 50%. Lets just say we enjoy being negative and paying little for a lot Hopefully Ricoh is way too busy to read forums too often
I work in marketing for an organisation with a £30 million a year turnover and our marketing budget is zero. It's amazing how creative you can be when you have no budget. Press release cost nothing, social media costs very little, press launches cost little so why should product increase by 50% just because marketing is involved?

I bought my d600 from Amazon in January 2014 for £599 delivered. All those sold where customer returns. Still registered ok with the manufacture for two years warranty, so I guess these Pentax kits could be a similar customer returns which need shifting quickly.

No one had even heard of vivien until after she died with many of her works being many years old when viewed for the first time.

Street photography has no barrier to entry so is easily achieved and is one of those genres that's flooded out with poor imagery. My favourite street togger is Joel Meyerowitz

I shoot these kind of shots at work all the time, we have a photo and usage policy at work that everyone has signed up to, its part of their contract of employment. If for some reason someone doesn't want their photo taken then it has to be a good reason.

My major tip I would give is to give people 24 hours notice, most women will not thank you for turning up unannounced to take their photo on a day they have done nothing with their hair. Try and also make it a group thing, the more people involved the more likely people will get on board.

You will come across people who just don't want to do it, I always explain you are a face of the organisation and we need your happy face on the website, if they won't co operate get a higher person to talk to them and explain they will have their photo taken. The more fun you can make it and relaxing the better the results

I actually enjoy his reviews and he actually talks sense. He recommends some very low priced lenses which I have bought and tests myself against high end stuff and see exactly what he is getting at.

As for his website it's been the same for donkeys years and I'm guessing it would take to much time to change it now wth all those reviews.

Pentax as a brand has huge obstacles to overcome. They have fantastic products but aren't exploiting them correctly.

Take their Instagram page for example it's full of images that could be taken with any camera, landscapes or shots of birds in sanctuarys. Their best ambassador to promote the brand is the surfer girl yet the images she provides for the Ricoh Instagram page are really dull yet her own Instagram page is fantastic yet doesn't even mention Pentax or Ricoh how can you be a brand ambassador and not even promote the brand on your social media surely that's the point of being an ambassador.

Instagram s the main social media platform of the under 25s and the market Pentax Ricoh should be exploiting yet they aren't.

Until they start putting cameras in the hands of the pros who can show what their cameras can do they are fighting a losing battle...

[quote:3496ace15f="Marat"]I would of liked to have seen a lens like Canons 24-105mm f4 or Nikons 24-120mm as well for around £600 or less, then it gives us a choice and our wallets a bit of breathing space.

They then could offer the camera and f2.8 lens for £2999 and the f4 camera/lens package for say £2299, then you have options for all markets.
...or even an SMC Pentax FA 24-90mm f3.5-4.5 IF AL with ghostless coating and an aperture ring - They had one of those in their line-up towards the end of their film days. How much do you think they would sell for?
But you're missing the point the whole point of the FF body is to fill the missing gap, why would you then spend time rushing to release none fast glass? Imagine they where to release a 3.5-4.5 speed zoom lens the outcry would be massive of Pentax selling the brand short etc...

As for the price of the 24-70mm its in the same ball park as other marques lenses, I wouldn't have expected anything else to be honest.

I would expect the 24-105mm f/4 lens to be next on the road map to add as kit lens as Nikon and Canon have done with their FF bodies in the past.
I think the point I am getting at is that why release a Pro lens at Pro cost to a Pentax market that's made up of enthusiasts, is Pentax aiming for this market instead of going after the future buyers of D610, A7 or 6D potential owners and are going straight for the D810 and 5D market, Brand loyalty counts for nothing in the Pro world as you know, so would they be able to compete with their very first offering?

I hope I am wrong as I want to own a FF Pentax, but it would give us an idea on how this new camera is going to be priced and will be a kick in the teeth to the owners who have supported the brand through thick and thin.[/quote]But any upgrade to a FF kit is not going to be cheap and in particular as this is the first time they have made an FF body there will be a lot of r and d costs to recoup. Why should companies reduce prices just to maintain brand loyalty? No other business does that!
