The really interesting test is to fill the buffer - say with 5-6 shots - and then see how long it takes before the last image is shown on screen. That takes an *age* with the Ultra IIs.

I deliberately tried to see what happens when the buffer is full (I'm pretty sure it is 512MB on the K5) and then what write speeds are enabled.

Yep, which is the other reason I'd like to hear how it's implemented in the UK. I was under the impression that consumer protection was "big" in the UK, and now I see that it's actually quite protective of larger companies. Interesting... don't the distance selling regs cover this? I thought they were an implementation of an EU-wide decree?

I'm pretty sure you're wrong on this, based on research I've already done quite unconnected with Pentax User. A different life elsewhere...
Do tell, I think this is rather interesting...

At least from the German side, things really are clear-cut. If you have a contract to sell at a specific price, you have a contract. Breaking that contract will result in at the very least negative feedback and a complaint to Ebay, which again may well result in suspension.
Check it before you put it up....

Oh, and contract only coming to pass at time of despatch? Try telling that to your credit card company. It's not true. Consumer protection should also agree that at the time you place an order and confirm it, that order is placed and the onus is on the company to fulfil, E&O excepted. And even then I'd expect some kind of "good faith" measure.

If you can swap the side pouches out, though, then you have the basis for a decent system - as the 100-300 should fit in a Lowepro S&F Lens case 4 and that could be attached to the sides.... also meaning that you can shrink things down if necessary.
I'd be very interested if I had some budget, but I don't right now

we've just tested two different cards on my K10d.

One is an Ultra II 32GB; the other is a new Extreme HD 16GB / 30MB/s.

The K10 goes:

snap snap snap snap snap snap

and then the buffer is full (this is with RAW, remember).

The Ultra then goes

snap snap snap snap

the Extreme goes:
snap snap snap snap snap snap

Each pause is around 1/4s or so, the minis about half that. It's *really* obvious, teh difference; I'll test in the K5 and maybe then do a vid to show.

My colleague was "card speeds don't make a difference" - oh yes they do... he's convinced now

I will take the 28 out at the weekend and do some landscapes to check this; f8 or so, focussed at 2.xm for hyperfocal, focussed at infinity and then again at f11. Let's see what happens (this will be with the K5).

no, a BIN is legally binding, end of. "make offer" is to make an offer; go through EBay's process and see what happens.

... so line up the orange marks and you have hyperfocal set anyway

I think they'd even be big enough for the 100-300, at least that's what Lowepro seems to imply on the website (that's 9" long and 100mm diameter)
