I don't like wool, I prefer tech windproof fleece or thin leather. Riding gloves are great for camera users.

As far as the WB is concerned, I think - and this is from my experience in a shedload of snow last winter - that the K5 hits it 100% correct every single time. The K10 doesn't. Won't help you much, but still.

well, i've just recalibrated my monitors here, will do the ones at work tomorrow. They haven't been done for 8 months (oops!).

K10 probably leaves on Friday for a new home , but I simply don't use it enough. But its new owner will look after it, of that I'm sure, and I'll get to see it occasionally

budget? If it's small, a k10d may be the better bet, but if it's larger and high ISO is what you need, then a Kr is better.

If you want / need a grip: K10.

yeah, right . I think you'll find that around £850/€1000 is the top end of valuations.

My TAv is limited to 3200, much after that I find the noise gets *almost* intrusive. About the same as a K10 at 400

well, they frequently return to similar places, so it's not *that* hard to find one at rest. The problem lies in getting close enough or lucky enough that they don't freak out and buzz away.

We have a lot at the summer house and again at the place we go for Sunday Lunch each week (a firepit) so I'll take the 100-300 and see if I can track them well enough next time I'm there.

^^ agree 100% on both the monopod and f11 with the tokina; I've also edged towards TAv on the K5 with 1/500+ and f10 set at 400mm to ensure minimal blur.

I understand the need when dealing with large blowups at high resolution - but that's where the 645D comes in...

Don't agree that 10MP would make automagically a "better" pic than 16MP, either.
