Hello Again,

I'm introducing (or rather Father Christmas) my six and a half year old to photography and I'm looking for a compact camera with video option too.

I've see the Pentax M90

And the E90

Some really useful comments there.

SO... I'm going to use my Pentax 50mm or Sigma 24 mm which both have an aperture ring. I will change aperture on the lens. The clicks don't matter as i'm adding music/sound recorded effects later anyway to my film eventually. Oh yeah i'm making a short arty film over the course of the year.

I'll grey card (been a while - used to love doing that) and AELock.

I think that this GLITCH may stop but it may be an error and i think i have a two year warranty anyway with the K& if there is an issue. Hope not.

For low light that light housing looks really good, though I've heard that turning my bembo upside down may work too.

I've never done any video in the past but thought I would give it a go and collect lots of footage over the year for a reaally dense film to accompany a poem i wrote some years back.

Any more advice.... most gratefully received.

As i said... my focussing is abysmal on this and I aim to make a handle/spoke/arm to enable me to get better purchase and control.

Saying that... the glitch is really interesting. it's like the editing technique at the beginning of batman begins!

Right will do... I did a test shoot on my 17-50 Tamron Af... as you will see - focussing wasn't achieved very accurately (need practice!)

I'm going to make a short film and have been tinkering with the K7... does anyone have any good video links for tips etc. It would be great if this forum had a video section.

So far I've recorded a few test scenes and have noticed that when the lighting condition changes from dark to light and vice versa., that their is a glitch - a sudden blank frame and a scratchy noise. Any ideas??

Wireless flash! Without having to use the pop up flash! Unless i'm missing a trick here.

I had -10 on my Tamron 17-50. I put up with it for ages... no good. Sent it to Tamron and they tinkered with it. Now I'm on +1 and it's lovely and sharp.

There is nothing like lens calibration to muddy your thoughts on image quality. "is it me?" or "is the image good enough?"... you'll be asking these questions forever.

Do yourself a favour and get it adjusted. As -10 leaves you no options!!

Had mine for about a year. I'd been using a K10 up till then. The K7 is a wonderful camera.
You can spend hours,learning new things about it.

The adjustable AF sensor means you can use old lenses and calibrate them yourself. This is the power of this camera.

Sensor great up to 1600, but still good over this is the subject is close and large in the frame. 2500 etc for group shots... mushy!

Lovely shutter sound, had a Nikon using pro call it 'a real photographer's camera'.

My greatest joy was finding how good it was at a friends wedding (i was the main photographer). how well it coped in low light with the AF. But my greatest joy was photographing in variable weather halfway up Snowdon. I sat it on a tripod and waited for the light. Despite the spitting rain, I knew the camera would shrug it off. And it did.

I have the Tamron 17-50. On my K10d it was so, so sharp, but on my K7 it isn't unless you stop it down. I adjusted the af for the lens and it was a massive -10 and still wasn't enough. I struggled with it for months and due to work-use i couldn't afford the time to get it fixed. it is now at Tamron for a repair. Hopefully they can solve it, but yes - it's gonna cost £70.

I know I'm not the only user on here to have the same problems. I always test in a shop if I can unfortunately i bought a new body and it wasn't calibrated with that!
