I like the first image very much, sharp, good light and well composed. Well done!

What kind of lens did you use for the Grey Heron? I have made several attempts with capturing Grey Heron myself, but I have never really succeeded with getting close enough...

Best regards

About ten years ago I was given a Pentax Espio 928 by my brother. I really liked the compact Pentax, and managed to take some pretty good photos with it. After that I had a Ca..n Powershot A60 (2MP point and shoot). In 2009 I decided it was time for a proper DSLR, and after reading many many tests I decided to go for the Pentax K20D. The K20D revitalized my interest in photography, and now I am the happy owner of quite a few analogue Pentax SLRs, a 67ii, and the K-5 (and some lenses...).

I have read somewhere that Pentax for longer periods focused on invention and had many great engineers, while others brands focused more on marketing. I also like the idea of not necessarily going for the most "popular" brands based on sales figures, but instead finding out what I like. I like Pentax

Impressive set of images! The SMC-M 20mm f4 seems like a very capable lens for this kind of architectural photography, by the way.

I had my first outing with the K-5 and DA 12-24mm last night. There was the possibility of observing both the Tauride meteor shower and Northern Lights here. Unfortunately there was quite a lot of clouds last evening, but there was a break up of the clouds around midnight, and I was able to test my new equipment. I saw several impressive meteors blasting through the atmosphere, but I was not fortunate enough to capture any of these with my camera. My initial impression is that I can get the same results with the K-5 at ISO 1600 as I could with the K20D at ISO 400, so at least a two stop improvement with the K-5.

Credit to the chap also for what he states in the final paragraph when considering the price the K-5's go for today:

He presents a balanced argument for all of the flavours of the K-5 today.
I agree. I myself purchased a standard K-5 some weeks ago, and I believe the upgrade from K20D is massive. But I am happy that Pentax have improved an already excellent camera with the two upgrades/new models. It is indeed exciting times for Pentax

Here is another K-5iis review, and a very positive one as such:

Due to the recent purchase of a K-5, my K20D will for the time being be put into retirement. I might want to keep on to it, as a second body, or possibly sell it. It depends on how my relationship with the K-5 turns out

How does one best store the K20D lithium batteries if the camera is not in use for a longer period? Fully charged or completely flat (empty)?

I am grateful for any advice on this matter!

Best regards
