Northern Lights and clouds

I had my first outing with the K-5 and DA 12-24mm last night. There was the possibility of observing both the Tauride meteor shower and Northern Lights here. Unfortunately there was quite a lot of clouds last evening, but there was a break up of the clouds around midnight, and I was able to test my new equipment. I saw several impressive meteors blasting through the atmosphere, but I was not fortunate enough to capture any of these with my camera. My initial impression is that I can get the same results with the K-5 at ISO 1600 as I could with the K20D at ISO 400, so at least a two stop improvement with the K-5.
