I like the first image very much, sharp, good light and well composed. Well done!
What kind of lens did you use for the Grey Heron? I have made several attempts with capturing Grey Heron myself, but I have never really succeeded with getting close enough...
Best regards
Bjørn

I love the second! All the feathers are clearly visible & you've captured their metallic sheen.
My own experiences are similar to Bjorn's but with the cormorants rather than the herons (I got quite a few semi reasonable heron shots whilst on the Norfolk Broads in the summer).
Whenever I've tried photographic cormorants, they've always been a bit too far away for whatever lenses I have with me, and the birds have always seemed significantly out of focus, when I get to check them on a bigger screen. The same lenses seem to work fine for other subjects...

Thank you guys, Bjorn they were taken with the DA 55-300mm. The Heron is pretty much full frame but I had to crop half the frame on the Cormorant as he was further away.
I just wish he had not been so close to the far bank to get better seperation.

Both are good shots - the 55-300 is an exceptional lens for the money.
