I can't speak with much experience of interior shots but a flash that can bounce off a ceiling is a revelation compared to the onboard flash of my K10D. I have the Jessops own one from when they were being sold off and am very very happy with that. It's really nice in an interior shot for example of my kids sitting somewhere that has the sky and scenery outside all nice and clear instead of not being visible at all. The thing I could do with for turning the camera to portrait mode is a bounce card, mind you if I pulled my finger out I could make my own.

Is it a good idea to get an established forumite or admin to set the next competition and draw a line under this weeks fun and games, so we can crack on with the next challenge.

Then in the meantime work on how some of the problems can be better avoided, through doubly clear rules and communication of rules, and maybe a new time for competition closure.

I have an idea for a subject for this week if anyone wants it

I've just run the first colour roll of film through my recent MX purchase. I got results I kind of expected, a mixed bag as I was trying out different settings, it was a cheap roll of film (fuji c200), and they were sent off to Truprint. Having said that the ones I like in the roll I really like. First roll was a 200.

Next roll is going to be an Ilford Delta 400 black and whie and will send it off to Ilford. I got the film and Ilford post paid envelope from 7dayshop. I found with a roll of 200 I could not achieve the results I wanted indoors and had to compromise on aperture and shutter speed to get the shot. So some pictures are not as good as I would have liked but they were handheld at 30 shutter speed.

One question. I found on the MX that in mixed light indoors (I'm using an M 1.7 50mm) I was not totally happy with the exposure on a few prints, it looked like it may have worked better if I had slightly overexposed. Outdoors seems to be spot on. I'm hoping with the 400 film I can avoid pushing the aperture too wide and the speed to low.

My favourites were the SMC Pentax-M 20mm f4, SMC Pentax 24mm f2.8 and SMC Pentax-M 100mm f2.8, all of which are fantastic lenses.

Unfortunately the rest of the world knows this as well and second hand prices are quite high.
Hi John, I picked up a Pentax-M 2.8 100mm in a classified ad some time ago and must admit I have not used it yet. As you mention it being a favourite I wondered under what settings and conditions you find you get the most from it?

A general question on old Sigma lenses. I have the offer of an old one and as yet am waiting for some more details on the lens. I have not found any information on my searches yet but wonder what I need to look for to understand if anything can be done to use the lens on my K10D or MX. All I know so far is it is a Sigma Auto Focus and has a 72mm thread, have asked for more details on the focal length etc.

not yet hefty, I have a roll of cheapo colour film knocking about I will put in soon. Need to locate a pdf of the MX manual, do you have a URL handy. I'm being lazy, I bet a quick search on this forum will find one.

very very nice pics. Having just got back from there I'm familiar with the wildlife. Took a boat trip on Wroxham Broads and got nowhere close to a good pic of the Grebes. I saw plenty of seals (at least 50, near Waxham) but as I was doing a 10 mile run on the beach I don't tend to carry my DSLR!

Well the 40mm has been sold now, it didn't add anything to what I have already. I got lucky and sold it for £65 on ebay, from someone internationally which is a risk of course but from what I can tell they seem legitimate so hopefully will work out fine. I'll be playing a bit more with the other kit before selling anything else.
