My K10D is set the way JR describes except for "Switch off the variable setting for WB and change to fixed value" I am not sure how you set.

I am still a bit disappointed with printed results for anything that is a strong red colour. Does not seem to matter where I get the prints done. These are images straight from the camera. Everything else in the picture prints the way I see it on screen except the reds. So someone might have a red santa hat on, the picture looks fine but the red on the hat is too oversaturated and the different shades in the red are lost and completely overblown.

Has anyone else experienced this with the K10D? Should I get the camera checked out by a specialist?

just as an update. I contacted snapfish and explained and it turns out my account had a setting for auto colour correcting my uploaded images. They must have seen this problem before because they switched the setting off for me and re-ran my order without any quibble. So I'll see what happens now when I get them back, it might be enough.

thanks Matt, I wonder if my company version of CS4 is different somehow. I tried to find Adobe Gamma for calibrating the monitor, but it is not there and there is no sign of the adobe gamma.cpl file.

the pictures only are an issue with the colour red and the pictures are as they have come out of the camera. if a picture had just browns and greys mostly it would tend to be fine.

i did speak to DS about it and they had not seen this before but also advised the same to send in tests after following their instructions. I will do so but wondered if anyone had advice on here first.

One thing I am not clear on is the color profile I should use as the workspace before I start. My CS4 defaults to North America, but you can also select Europe, I'm not sure what bearing this has (scratches head).

I have just recently got Photoshop 11 CS4 and due to being increasingly disappointed with the reds and greens when snapfish develop my prints I have been in contact with DS colour labs to setup a profile and try to ensure I have some control over the colours of the prints that come out. I have the DS labs profile and their site gives the following instructions (see below). I have followed this but then the color space on the properties of the file changes from sRGB to a number 65535. I am completely ignorant on all this so be gentle with me. Do I need to set the colour settings in some way? Has anyone used DS Colour labs and their printer profile before?

I have a K10D and wondered if there is some way to hack the file name default? I have now gone past IMGP9999 and returned to IMGP0001. I'd prefer to have unique file names even if I use sub-folders. Any ideas?

I always shoot RAW+JPG on highest resolution for the simple reason that I might not be happy with the white balance etc and feel the need to change that and process another jpg in-camera. For the most part I flick through the LCD screen and delete the RAW files and keep the JPG's I want. I keep any RAW files I think I might go back and do a bit more work on, but that's rare. I wish I was more like John above, as he has years more experience than me and probably gets it right first time a lot more so does not see the need for RAW files.

you know what, please ignore me. I think I have been very dumb! The "S" setting is the wireless slave setting, so would not work, I must have been mistaken in thinking the flash was set to that previously. Doh

TTL been working fine so far and works in other settings, the trailing flash for example, but not the "S" setting, and this switches to manual and does not discharge the flash.

Hi, hoping someone knows about this one. I have the above flash on my K10D, and it has been fine for quite some time. Now all of a sudden on the normal mode I use "S" when you start the flash up it says TTL then goes to manual, and then when you take a picture the flash does not go off. It's fine in the other two modes (i.e. >> flash or flash >>) but in this one the flash does not fire. Any ideas?
