Nice shots. Like using the Bigma, its all about getting the focus spot on.

When at Banff, make sure you do the side trip north to the Athabasca glacier. The scenery is just why we all visit Canada! Timing will be perfect for fall colours in the later part of your trip. I would time it a week or so later, perhaps sticking to October. You will see more wildlife in the Rockies in October than September from my limited experience. Have a great time.

These "peanut" style slave flash triggers are great. I use a SLS? version. Handy if you have a number of old flash units, especially high voltage units which should not be mounted on your camera. To trigger these slaved flashes you need another (low voltage) flash mounted on your camera. It must be non PTTL so it has no pre flash and will trigger all your slaved units. No need for any wireless triggers in this setup.

No 2 and 3 are fabulous. No 1 looks better I think with sky stretched and panoramic style crop to lose the bench. Much more focus then on sunset colours and silhouette of shoreline.

Agree with Woodworm. Sometimes cropping not needed.

Photography of birds with low light presents some challenges. Don't be afraid to pull out the flash unit. I've been very happy with photos using a Bigma and flash unit at dusk or later. I used a Sigma EF 530 Super flash. Biggest problem is that at dusk here the mosquitoes like to feed! I presume that is not a problem in UK???
