Thought I'd have a stab at a sunset !

Was travelling home on Sunday when I noticed some colour appearing on the horizon. I was near the coast & had my gear in the boot so thought "Why not?" In my limited time with a Dslr I hadn't gone for the obligatory sunset shot !
Location was chosen on the fly as time was not on my side.

1st 2 are a little darker than I aimed for as I had PS set to an incorrect profile from some print experiments earlier. Will have to re-process them, but the darkness is growing on me somewhat. 3rd one re-processed as it was way too dark & all detail was lost.

Thoughts and comments good or bad as always appreciated.

Enjoying the show

The first 2 are VERY good (are they HDR?). Excellent light and a good mood. I do not like the Ps work on the 3rd one. Too light imo.

Bob, I feel the first image is a little on the dark side, could you lighten and repost?

I guess I over-compensated when re-processing the 3rd one then !

Yes Nimitz they are HDR, just helps to bring some detail out in these high contrast shots.

No 2 and 3 are fabulous. No 1 looks better I think with sky stretched and panoramic style crop to lose the bench. Much more focus then on sunset colours and silhouette of shoreline.

I have to disagree there, I prefer number one as it is.
Number two is an absolute cracker though ...

Excellent work indeed. Photo No 2 is very pleasing to the eye to say the least. Colours and composition are spot on.

No. 2 for me, its very artistic. I'm not generally a fan of HDR as many photographers get carried away and produce OTT results but your No.2 is restrained yet goes far enough to achieve the right result.

No. 2 for me as well. It's fantastic. And the 3rd one although looking unnatural is nice - like from a Sci-Fi film
