Mornin' I just went to your link and when I tried to download 1.06 I got a warning from Windows that it was a possible danger. It said this type of prog. was not normally downloaded and could cause problems. I've downloaded many firmware updates in the past and never had this warning before. I'll be back on line later and will try the official Pentax (Ricoh) site. In the meantime are there any comments on this issue???????
CHEERS Vic.
After virus-indications with the EXE for the previous firmware version, I used the ZIP version on my Windows without problem.

There will be something very special to play with (I cannot say any more!!)
As usual, there will be Mark from Pentax in attendance to answer all of your questions and special offers on the day.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the day. I can assure you all, it will be worth it!!
Any questions then please ask, well I say any questions, but I cannot give any more information about potential new product!!
I wish I could conditionally pre-order products: "if it is a camera with these characteristics, put me on the pre-order list; if it is a lens ... (ditto)". This would save time - there are certain hypothetical products that I will pre-order the instant they become a reality.

The options for video raw mimic the photo RAW vs JPG. Raw means straight off the sensor, with no camera profile editing done, so no sharpening or attempts at colour correction etc. In video terms it's exactly the same. Being difficult for users to use isn't much of an argument to me, as you could say the same for RAW files really.
Video is one area Pentax is really lagging behind in. With the weather sealing and onboard image stabilisation (IF they allow mechanical stabilisation during video capture) Pentax would be really attractive to many budding film makers. From a sales perspective, assuming the hardware can handle it, many of the changes required are software based, so are features that could be added fairly easily. Many want to use pentax hardware in video work, not just Pentaxs older lenses.
CinemaDNG is a raw file format for video that uses DNG for each frame. I don't know how attractive that makes it for Pentax. (I created the Wikipedia CinemaDNG page, but I don't claim to be an expert on this whole topic).

I borrowed a friend's Pentax S1A while at university. Then bought SP500s, then LXs which were stolen.
After various other Pentax film SLRs I bought a *istD somewhat late, then K10D, K-7, K-5, K-5IIs, K-3 ... whoops, I'm getting ahead of myself!
Main interests: studio portraiture, airshows and motor sports, and more recently birds. And anything else .... Typical club photographer (that is, somewhat fanatic).

It all comes down to the sort of photography we do, doesn't it? I do lots of airshows, motor sports, birds in flight, etc. The K-5IIs is good, but I want better.

It's nifty and good marketing, agreed, a feature worth having and one that permanently spells the end of AA filters if it works well. I really want to hear about niftier DR/iso performance though.
Try that with in-lens stabilisation!
