Anyone going to give some useful advice about shooting in the dark - I have a canal and a Victorian mill in walking distance, so - any advice would be great. As a side point, this will be my first fortnightly comp so I need an 'idiot's guide' to submitting an image.
What's better with a CCD sensor (K10D, K200D) low iso (100) to lower the noise but you also get longer exposure times so the sensor gets warm and that might introduce more nose or use an higher iso (400?) the shorten the shutter time so that the sensor doesnt get that hot
Just need to try I think...

it lacks an "Auto" mode and it can't act as a controller in a wireless setup - so it depends on which features are more important to you.
I've got the Pentax 360 and if I was starting again from scratch I'd buy another 360. It's a great flashgun and if it had a swivel head it'd be perfect!
I don't know what his plans are but if he wouldn't buy older lenses and/or a second flash, then the swivel head would win it for me because there wont be any use for an auto mode or a controller mode in wireless, you simply can't or won't need to use them.
It's for him to decide what his needs are so succes with that Sherpa

so if i ever wanted to take the photos needed to produce HDR images i could use this method also ?
I shoot statonary subjects a lot with a bracket, at home you can pick the best one or make an HDR out if it, most of the time I only do it for the sky. My GND filters are on his way before I get some comment of the purists

will do it maybe next month, first Den Haag next week and the week after maybe the Biesbosch if it hasn't rained.
About the light the problem is that trees have leaves and walking in the woods you have a lot of trees and not so much light
yeah it looks like an amazing lens from those photos, never heared of it though

It must be a very lovely place to live there, so close to nature.
Did you crop or did anything to the images, in #8 you can really see how sharp that lens is. I wonder how it would compare to the D-FA 100mm
I went to the Gelderse Vallei two weeks ago near Amersfoort, it was a nice hike of 14km (7 miles) it took us the whole day to finish it though.

That's the best thing about this season. Sun (if there is any) low in the sky, even at noon, so lighting is so wonderful.
Already worked on the macro's and birdshots, maybe I should post them here just too see what you think of them and hopefully get some good C&C on them.
Like I said the light wasn't that great so used the flash a lot...
May I ask you where this was shot, it looks like a lovely place to go for a hike

Well they do have a focusing screen but not like the split screen you're refering too I believe. You can replace your screen with such a split screen, Katze Eye makes them but there are also other cheaper solutions.
This is how the viewfinder looks like off the K20D link
Normally you don't see the grey squares but they light up wen something is in focus.

About the flash, why has no one said a Metz 48 :
It's cheaper, more powerfull and best of all it has a swivelhead
You would still have the money afterwards to get a good secondhand 50mm

I don't have enloops so I can't compare them but I've a set of 2 and if one set is depleted, they get recharged and go in the bag for a month or 2 before they see some use again and I can't really tell the difference if they are freshly charged or not. The Vartas are also 2700mAh compared to Enloop 2000mAh so there really is some difference even if they lose some more charge
