If you pup up the flash, it should give some pulses to try to help focus in low light.
Alternatively, the 360/540 flash units have a red light that will shine a pattern to help focus without the distracting flashes. (the red light is still rather distracting but not as much.)

The last is better and my favorite of the three, but still like she is looking past the camera at something more interesting going on behind. Also, the left (her right) eye is out of focus. Sort of distracting.

Sorry, the image isn't showing up for me. The link appears to be broke.

Anyway, the dust removal system is useless as usual and even using the Rocket Blower does not remove one large stubborn chunk of gunk from the center of my sensor.
Are there any recommended safe methods for removing stubborn dust? I am quite comfortable cleaning my istD, but not so sure the same process with wipes and alcohol are OK for the K10D with its movable parts.
Anyone brave the new world yet and able to say if this is safe or disastrous? Or am I stuck sending in for "repair" to get it cleaned.

Unfortunately if the driver/software doesn't explicitly say that it runs on Vista, you can pretty much guess that it wont. I would not think that connecting a camera in this way would require anything special, but Iapparently it does.
I won't convert yet because there are too many things I cannot get confirmation on. So I won't risk it.

The database can handle a LOT of images and does so quickly.
The organization and finding of files for the most part is easy to do.
The Beta version of ACDSee Pro 2.0 RAW converter handles newer RAW formats including the K10D. (yeah, 2.0 is coming out after v 8.1... go figure...)
Although I really have not looked at the RAW converter much. On the surface it seems to be lacking compared to dedicated packages.

Of course once home, I recalled some very odd behavior with other cameras in the past that were solved by removing the battery (I'm not eve sure they were Pentax)... with the only alternative being that I ship the thing back for repair for 10 weeks, I gave that a try anyway.
I waited a few minutes, put the battery back in and what'd'ya know, its working again.

Historically I am the type of person that defective equipment gravitates to.
I rarely have the luxury of buying something and getting to use it without having to do a return and obtain a second one, or more, before it "works".
Anyway, other nice things about the add-on grip is the ability to store your wireless remote and an additional memory card.
My old film Pentax neck strap had small pockets for storing the remote and eyepiece cap. I miss those. Not a huge issue, but the grip helps when I want to travel and not stuff those items in my jeans pockets with the car keys, or to forget to bring them altogether. (forget the the remote and extra memory that is, not my jeans )

Main PC has dual monitor. One at 1680x1050, the other turned sideways at 1200x1600.
My browser on the other hand is rarely sized beyond maybe 1200x800 just because I'm doing too many other things to cove my whole screen with it. It works OK until some one posts an oddly wide website or really large photos.
