I've just discovered a comparison of portrait lenses in French here for those that are interested - the Samyang would appear to be a poor copy however, as it is clearly decentred.

I have one and it can perform well. However it is not stellar wide open at full stretch in my experience, which is a bit of a limitation since thet is how I tend to use it most of the time! However at f11 it is pretty sharp. Worth sacrificing low ISO for (and you get more depth of field)

I had the DA17-70 on the camera too, which isn't weatherproof.
True it is not marketed as weatherproof, but it does have a rubber sealing ring on the mount, which would indicate a measure of weather resistance.

You should have looked a bit further.
True, but that was not the one I saw in LCE. With a 67-PK adaptor it would be a (relatively) cheap way to get long Pentax glass...

Interestingly they also had (new) Samyang 800 F8 mirror lenses there...

I was looking in the window of LCE in Guildford this afternoon and saw one of these going for £799...

I've been told the Olympus finder reverses the viewfinder image, is that right?
Yes that is true, but you get used to it

The old Olympus right angle finders also fit Pentax - and are much cheaper s/h than Pentax ones (though they don't have the 2x magnification option that the Pentax offers). I picked one up for £30 a few years ago.

You could always use live view for low level work...

Not used it much yet. Only had it a day! Mostly I like the K7's small dimensions but it will be good with bigger lenses for balance.
