Cheap K7 battery grip

I can't find the original post, but someone here mentioned a cheap K7 battery grip. Well I was intrigued and, at only $55 - ie one fifth of the price of the original - it seemed worth a punt. Well it arrived today and it seems well made and fits well on my K7 and does all the things it is supposed to do. It works with both 6xAA and a spare lithium battery It claims in the leaflet to be dustproof and water resistant, but I would be mildly skeptical as I can't see any seals.

Sold by Digital Extreme (from Hong Kong) - they have a fair few other bits and pieces too

I looked into the cheap grips. There appear to be two types. The closest match to the Pentax has metal location pins and six screws around the tripod mount into the camera.

There is a less-close copy that has only two screws around the tripod mount and plastic lugs.

As far as I know neither have weather sealing.

HTH!

The DealExtreme one is the closer copy with metal lugs. I suspect the reference to weather sealing in the leaflet is because it apears to be a copy of the original Pentax leaflet.

mine is made by meike and its identical looking to the original, doesnt state its weather sealed. but its great for the money and the one on my d300(made by meike) has never let me down and has been in the rain with no problems.
the k7 grip is not the most comftable to hold i find, especially if you use the af button to focus.

Not used it much yet. Only had it a day! Mostly I like the K7's small dimensions but it will be good with bigger lenses for balance.
