Wish I'd seen this earlier, paid £8.65 for mine....

I had a full-page photo in a BBC book about twenty years ago (Okavango: Jewel of the Kalahari: got £100), and have one in a soon to be released book about waves, but am only getting a signed copy of the book for that. I got first and third in a local photographic competition last month, but can't post the pics here as they were taken on an Olympus! They are on my website though.

A quick one for the broke and/or tight photographers on here: having been on a very restrictive budget until very recently, I wanted a bean-bag but did not want to spend much. I bought a square pencil case from the local co-op for a quid, made from some plasticised but soft tartan fabric, filled it with a mix of bulgar wheat and rice from the kitchen cabinet, and super-glued the zip closed. It works very well, and is a permanent addition to my camera bag.

Chris from SRS has just found the other hood for me, so finally got both!

Both myself and my wife haveSlingshot 100's which carry camera two kit lenses and one other small lens. Itis a comfortable bag to carryand has a waterproof cover. You can take out the camera withoutremoving the bag which is very handy. The 200 version is bigger but not sure how much more kit it takes.

Very interesting. It looks a bit complicated, is getting the balance between the different light sources guesswork or can you get some sort of colour temerature meter to measure the the colour temperature in different parts of a scene? I guess with digital it's possible to review your results straight away, must be a nighmare with film! The only flash I have experimented with is using slave flashes, which as I only have two fixed-output slaves is largely a matter of experimentation.

Not being into flash photography (yet) could someone explain to me why you would use gels rather than changing the colour temperature in your raw converter?

I had lots of problems with Firefox and stopped using it after persisting for nearly a year. I tried Google Chrome but it's rubbish. Whatever you say about Bill Gates, at least his product works!

I have just received a Tamron 90mm macro, so guess I should get it out and have a go......if I can fit it in with moving abroad on Friday! It's all a bit hectic at the moment!

The hood fits, but the problem is it's a petal hood rather than a deeper one, so will not eliminate flare. Nice thought though! Untile we find the correct hood, she can use the petal hood she's now got on the other lens......
