Really nice quality about them all especially the last one.
I like the way the corridor comes off the building.

I've had the F f/1.7 and the FA f/1.4. The F f/1.7 was sharper at every aperture than the FA f/1.4.

I was in two minds about selling the F f/1.7 because it was such a good performer. I eventually sold them both and if I need a 50mm I have the A Series f/1.7 and f/1.4.

The A Series f/1.7 matches the F f/1.7 at most apertures so if you just want sharpness the A series is about £100 cheaper but no AF

Sorry, but it's widely accepted that portraits in front of pretty flowers just don't work. Might be better OOF, but there are much better backgrounds available. Do they do table cloths with really rough bushland on them ?

Gainsborough or Frans Hals were the experts on backgrounds

Really like the "Final version, sans spot! " Nice lighting and the cloul looks like the moon.

One interesting quirk that I discovered, is that the M seems to be sharper wide open, than at f8!? Very odd.
Sounds like there might be something wrong with the type of test you are doing or possibly the lens isn't stopping down.

Are you sure the Takumar stopped down correctly? I've seen some decent shots with that lens. It was very cheap though sold in just a white box with no markings.

Some of you might find Fred Parkers extension of the
Sunny 16 rule interesting:

THE ULTIMATE EXPOSURE COMPUTER

For the more technical this page goes into more detail about why the 18% middle grey card doesn't quite tie into meter readings due to k factors etc. It lists what k factors different manufacturers have used.

I like all of them, but the first one best because of the mixture of colours and the texture in the rocks.... very nice setting.
