Thanks Algi, I was thinking about £450, from memory , but just wanted to check. I have an early AP test on one, very positive report on IQ.
Regards,
John

I was about to post this link, but before I could it was already sold:
He must have got the price of a 300mm M42 by mistake. All his other stuff seems about right. He didn't seem to realize that is was an A* either. Really well made lens and very short for a 300mm plus a narrower field of view than the F* 300mm.

I don't think the face is blown out, you always get highlights in B&W anyway and having the face darker would achieve nothing. The brightest area is at the side of the nose, but no detail has been lost. Digital doesn't record highlights very well anyway.

The OP asked for comments on a high magnification eyepiece and highlighted one which has the lowest magnification just because it's cheaper indicating that all the other posts are a waste of time

It's not really detracting on this shot, but there's a halo around the hands and right shoulder... could be a problem with other shots. Do you know what caused it? Is it just a Jpeg artifact?

I've got one, good lens as long as 4m min. focus isn't a problem. Extension tubes can easily reduce that.
They seem to be a bit longer than 300mm AP
tested one and it measured 315mm.

build quality. So comparing sharpness isn't everything.

Mine actually saved my camera. The only time I've ever knocked the tripod over and it was on hard granite flogs the rubber eyecup hit the flags first and took most of the impact and saved the LCD screen. Some slight secondary scuffing on one side of the camera, but still works OK

The Tenba and KPS also include a rubber eyecup to cut out external light (very good in the case of the KPS which is why I'm going to buy another one).
The KPS looks down slightly into the viewfinder which helps seeing the green LCD display.
One slight pain with the KPS is that you need a Phillips screwdriver to remove it, but I suppose that's better than it falling off especially if you do like I did and push the tripod over
