Last weekend I had some friends from the US visiting for a few days so we spent a day having a wander around Cambridge.

Sorry to be negative but I find the converging verticals in all these shots off putting. I tend to shoot with a very wide lens and crop the bottom 2/5ths. My dream is a Pentax tilt shift lens...

Oh, don't worry Kris, I know you have this thing about verticals . I have reservations about that approach, sometimes with taller buildings it looks much too fake. After all, when looking upwards our eyes see converging verticals as well!

Having said that I have already straightened the verticals in the 6th one, I had thought that you would approve

I'm in agreement with Tim on this, although correction in software won't look the same as the method Kris uses. As long as it's not shot with a particularly wide angle lens, the effect does look natural to me.

No. 6 for me too, lovely shot.

I've just read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (again), so these are suitably relevant.

As Kris says, a slight corection of Bridge of Sighs would perfect a lovely image and a great conversion.
Best wishes,

Andrew

That's the one shot that IS already corrected for verticals! *grumble* (joking ) The chimneys are all vertical (they all have progressively worse leaning in the original). The slight lean you can see in the top left and top right seems to be barrel distortion. It might just be ancient buildings that aren't straight, it's hard to tell On the far left especially you can see the verticals in the lower part of the building are straight but above that they are leaning inward. I wasn't going to bother doing anything about that but I guess I have to now!

Now, if you could just sort out that dust spot above the cloud above the left hand spire thing on the bridge, it will be perfect!

You must have eyes like a hawk! I can't see any dust spots 'above the cloud above the left hand spire thing on the bridge'. Must be your description though.

Nice series!
