Not sure about Nikon, but Canon had an oil problem and correctly
issued notification about it:

Hmm. The problem isn't quite as bad as I expected, IF everyone really has answered correctly. Still, 50% hit rates are pretty damned high....

Anyone not finding any problems would probably be safer recording some video (if you haven't already) just in case it's heat related.

It's very annoying seeing all the perfectly good clean programs being reported by AV scanners as infected At least Kapersky have a good setup for reporting, testing and correcting these. I don't think AVG has and would be surprised if MS have.

It doesn't fill you with confidence when you look through the list of false positives. In fact you wonder if there is any point bothering at all

I'm very surprised that Pentax haven't made some sort of statement
yet. They must know what it is, they only need to examine ones that
are being assembled right now. The longer they leave it the worse
their reputation gets damaged.

I'm sure anyone who couldn't decide between which system to buy
will have returned the K-5 and switched to their 2nd choice.

If your doing the test to see if there are marks on the sensor
it would probably be better out of focus.... i.e. focus set at
infinity.... you don't want to pick up any marks on the paper.

I've not got a K-5 but I presume you have to set it to MF.

He actually said "This will allow a low ISO sensitivity of ISO 400 or under and a small aperture to be used." i.e. 80-400ISO is the low ISO range and 400ISO is right on the limit

It's understandable that you didn't read that correctly, you probably couldn't stop laughing about Samsung predicting that they would overtake Nikon and Canon by 2015 and they were planning to release a strange range of lenses including a power zoom

Sorry to hear about all this.... Pentax probably laid off
too many QA staff.... hard to believe they didn't spot this
during manufacture it's obviously something that would be
visible on the production line.

If I were involved I think I'd just ask for a refund.

Anything with Tomioka actually on the lens goes for daft money
£300 - £500 Ouch!!!

For a SHARP 50mm/55mm at f/1.7 - f/1.7 Old M42 Yashinons are
hard to beat. Unfortunately no manual/auto switch and some
of the pins can't be pushed out of the way. Gluing might
work, but if it comes off and goes in your camera it could
do some damage to the mirror etc.

You won't find a bad Yashica lens they were all made by Tominon
The R probably refers to the number of elements.

I've never seen any that were pre-sets though. Probably 50's as you say.
Yashica were very advanced and had electronic cameras in the early 60's.
I can't remember what camera's they had before the Yashica TL's which
had Auto lenses like Pentax and LED's in the viewfinder instead of needles.
