Just looked at 7Dayshop Lexars are quite dear at £32?

Never used these but they look fast:
Duracell Secure Digital (SDHC) Memory Card - 8GB - Pro Photo 200X - Class 10 - 30MB/s link
only £11.99 delivered.

Or if you don't want too much speed for video Toshibas at £10.99 or lower if you don't want the retail package link

Probably the Sandisk cards. Try a different make such as
Lexar.

Desktop every time. I can't stand looking down on a laptop screen. I've got a Toshiba laptop that I hardly ever use, unless I have to do something away from the desktop.

Desktop keyboards are unbelievably poor, so it's worth buying a good one separately. About the best keyboard I've ever come across is the
Cherry G84-4100 Compact Keyboard only 11" wide and with real switches on the keys instead of the usual membrane.... really fast to use and portable. I wish it would beep though when the CAPS lock is on They've moved the DEL key to the bottom line which is a lot better, because it gets used a lot. Cream is better than black if your eyesight is as bad as mine

I bought 2 off ebay for about £20 each, they still turn up at that price from time to time, most of the regulars sell for £45 - £60 BIN. They obviously sell well at those prices because they are so good.

This is just an example

Pentax do make CCTV and TV lenses under the Cosmicar brand.

It does look like at least 50% of K-5's have the problem.
That also means anyone getting a replacement will have a
50% chance that it also has the problem. Try and check it
at the shop?

I agree with DrOrloff that if only a small percentage were
defective there wouldn't be people on the other forum getting
up to two defective replacements.

Be careful also with the dealers who aren't as efficient of
SRS who will swap one camera and then give the defective camera
to another customer because they think the first customer is
being fussy. That's why I always insist on unopened boxes when
I buy any electrical gear.

I don't trust this new fangled gas they send down
the pipes these days

Much better to have a big tank of petrol inside
your house and make your own petrol air-gas
just like they did in the old days

Lets all hope it arrives safely Gwyn. I'd also ask SRS to
actually test the replacement just to make sure that you
have a perfect camera.

You need to be careful there are bound to be managers in Hoya
who will set a deadline for which cameras are exchanged for new
ones and which are sent for repair. The normal period in most
businesses seems to be 1 month. There's a massive cost
involved for Hoya here.

If used to annoy me years ago when you sent a Weston meter for
repair they charged quite a lot for the repair, but sent you someone
else's meter back on an exchange basis, which hadn't been looked
after anything like as good as the one you sent in

The Japanese learned years ago from problems that the Germans had
with sticking camera shutters to use if possible little or no lube
so I think they know what they are doing

Sticky greases have been available for years i.e. don't fall
off, although I doubt they would use them where dust can settle.

I can't see there being a recall on this. Not needed because
100% of the cameras aren't faulty, so if your waiting for
Pentax to do something you could have a long wait Just
return the camera to the dealer you bought it from and deal
with it on an individual basis.
