Hi Daroni:
I'm interested in a 100 mm macro lens, I read you said yours is Tamron, is that right? I thought Tamron's macro was 90 mm and Pentax was 100.

Can you give me more information please, and I live in Canada.

Hi Karinaca,

The macro shots in my portfolio are a Tamron ( 90mm) however I also have a Pentax 100 mm both are great lenses and I would not know how to distinguish between them on quality,

On Film I always used the Pentax but switched to Tamron recently, buying the lens on a special offer and can't fault the images from it.

I have tried Sigma and frankly prefers the 150 mm to the 180 mm, ( or the shorter focal lengths) there being an advantage with the extra focal length on close up rather than true macro as the shooting distance results in the subject not being " spooked" .

Hand on heart, I like the Tamron if I had to chose one though, because conversely you can maintain a much smaller aperture when you are that little bit nearer on very small subjects., but anything less than 90mm seems wasted and also overpowering to the subject

But it is as broad as it is long whether it is 100 mm or 90 mm, sorry to be so flaky on it.

Get a Pentax 100mm and stay " on brand"
