Birds - always so far away ;-(

Been out at a Yorkshire Nature reserve today and there were a few birds close enough to photograph but, as usual, quite a few even further away. So, these K-3iii and 55-300 PLM lens photos have, as usual, been heavily cropped.
The Kingfisher was obliging and sat briefly on a nearby stick and then flew about a bit. One day, I WILL get a decent close up of a kingfisher in flight!!!! The shutter speed was 1/1500th sec.
The blooming Green Sandpiper was inconsiderate in flying out of the frame. I do like the water/mud droplets though, shutter speed was also 1/1500th sec.

Not at all bad - I'd be pleased to have managed to get them!

Can you lighten the kingfisher a bit without losing that lovely light through the wing?

For me... I'd leave it as is. Just use lighten up the Kingfisher to bring out those spectacular colours!
