According to photorumors site the new Pentax 'KP' could be announced within a week or so and is said to be a K5/K3 class of camera rather than an entry level replacement. Compatible with a new DBG-7 grip apparently.

It does seem out of kilter with current nomenclature...maybe a new line...APS-C Mirrorless?

I wondered who'd be the first to get that in!

Was mid afternoon before I got out on a very grey, overcast day...so not ideal testing conditions but was educational being the first outing nontheless.

First impressions of the lens are that it is nice and solid, well built and feels very comfortable and workmanlike attached to the K50. Can be difficult to get the focus right using manual and definitely going to be far fewer 'keepers' than i've been used to with both 18-55 and 70-300...but I really like it and am looking forward to seeing how it performs in better weather.

Adding together some birthday money with a major part of my Christmas presents has got me a nice shiny new Sigma 10-20 f3.5 which will be paired with my K50. Am looking forward to getting out to try it out locally. Also got a Velbon UP-400DX monopod with basic head...my first monopod so that should be fun as well.

It was a rousing headline from Sputnik news that caught my attention:

"Christmas Solar Storm Threatens Earths Infrastructure" , article went on to claim that auroral activity would be seen much further south than normal...including possibly Northern England.

I posted it more from the Photography angle, might give a 'Heads Up' (no pun intended) to those of us in the region.
