I like the colours on these. On the 147 pic I personally would have cropped it tight portrait and removed the red light.

Colours and sharpness are terrific.
Shame we cant post a larger size image here. Any thoughts John Riley ? 800 pix is a bit small these days?

A very nice set - I particularly like the car. I agree with Peter about "147".

Interesting that you would want to crop out the red light. I saw that as an integral part of the design which has three focal points forming a triangular composition. But we all see things differently, thank goodness.I like the colours on these. On the 147 pic I personally would have cropped it tight portrait and removed the red light.

Agreed it does create a triangularish composition, but as the red lamp is very close to the corner it doesn't feel quite right having the complementary colour in that position. So have to agree with Woodworm's thoughts regarding it. Hope the tram wasn't suffering with WW's insect namesakes!woodworm wrote:

Have you tried the 70-200 on the K-1?

No JAK, I don't have a K1 but although the lens is designed for full frame it works well enough on my crop sensor cameras, the 200 giving me 300mm.

Indeed it does David, but seems a heavyweight (literally) option for APS-C. I'd have thought the DA 60-250 would be more manageable and perform a similar task. Can't deny the results you've got though.

The 60-250 would indeed have been a very good alternative choice but I'm sure it's still quite a hefty piece of kit. The 70-200 is heavy but, depending on what I'm shooting, it can free me up to go out with just one camera body and lens whereas previously with the DA* fixed focal length 200 I always carried another camera, the K5 or K30 with me plus a shorter zoom. So I'm quite used to carrying a lot of weight aroundIndeed it does David, but seems a heavyweight (literally) option for APS-C. Then the max aperture of the 60-250 is 4.5 opposed to 2.8 on the 70-200..
And if I ever go for a full frame Pentax then the D FA* will be more suitable.

That's true, it's more future proof with a K-1 in mind. Cheers David.

Very crisp in detail and the telephoto perspective on things brings an intimate atmosphere. My favorite is the tram one. No doubt David the new lens will soon prove very useful for steam trains also!
