As long as the sellers were happy...what a great find!

Out of interest K10D, what is the sales tax in Oz? Really need to compare prices ex tax for them to be valid from the point of view of deciding whether a particular product is a rip-off.

Could do with a website listing every major country and the amount of its taxes so that these comparisons were easier and more meaningful.

There appears to be two types of pricing strategy employed by manufacturing companies worldwide:

1. Cost + a given percentage mark-up

2. Cost + as much as you think you can get away with

Photographic goods seem to fall into No.2

Price in the US is about $1300 as well..which is roughly £900 so once more we seem to be earning the soubriquet 'treasure island'. It definitely needs £100 knocking off the price. Could be about to happen soon though as Nikon cashback offers apparently are announced tomorrow...carrying on through January 2014 so i'm assuming that the Pentax cashback will also return.

Some great shots, particularly like phonelight and colliers 2.

Something else I read on the dpreview site about the rumoured spec is that apparently
all 27 focus points are the 'full cross' variety whatever benefit that confers and that there is a '"full tracking autofocus" which sounds like it will be of interest to anyone doing planes, cars and birds etc.

It looks very nice going off the spec that has been leaked although if it does come in at about £1200 I can't see many people with a K5II or K5IIs upgrading unless they are using it in a professional or semi prof way and able to recoup some of the outlay.

It looks like a nice upgrade for original K5 users though, and possibly K10 and K20 owners with deep pockets. Once the price has dropped to £999 I should imagine sales will really take off.

It is of more interest to me though in its effect on depressing prices throughout the rest of the range so that I can upgrade in the next couple of months!

J2R,

I'm in the same position as yourself although my birthday isn't until November and what with Christmas following hard on its heels I can afford to wait a bit longer before committing...probably to a K30.

Talking of 'trigger prices'... for the K30 with 18-55WR kit lens i'm looking at £399.
If the K5 body only dropped to £399 that would make me pause and think, as would a price of £599 on the K5II !

Really nice set there, very sharp. I have to say the animals look alert and happy...something you don't often get with captive creatures in zoos.
