Thanks for the responses guys. I'll do a bit more digging around to see if I can discover anyone who has actually used one of these specific ones and see what they thought. In the meantime John, i've had a look at SRB's website and sent them an email. They do seem to be quite a useful looking company for future reference.

If anything does come of this and I decide to try one of these adaptors i'll post some of the results on here with my thoughts...it might help someone else. I thought i might as well try and make some use of those lenses as sell them for a pittance.

regards

Karlo

Andrew, Yes it was quite 'tight' at times in those hangars. They really crammed as much in as possible and there were times where as you say I ran out of backsteps! Having said that I have been before so knew what to expect, and because i quite like tightly cropped shots of assorted detail, I went quite looking forward to the challenge. Next time I go i'll take a 35 or 40mm 'M' type lens for a totally different look.

Russ, Thanks for your comment. 5,7 and 11 are three of my favourites. I particularly liked that blue lighting in 7 and 8! It came out really well on the first attempt.

mattox, Yes, focusing does take longer. I relied quite a bit on the aural 'beep' focus confirmation as the lighting and my eyesight could have been better. On some of the shots it was simply a case of trying to anticipate when the shot would be in focus as it kept hunting in the poor light. Some ended up better than others and the worst offenders were deleted. I took 144 shots altogether and have ended up with about 30-35 'keepers' so it wasn't too bad overall.

Philip, That shot you've tweaked does look better. I may well have a go as you suggest although I like No.17 as it is and I quite like the natural light on the bare aluminium in No.14. No.15 in particular could do with a boost in contrast. The problem is if you don't tackle them almost immediately they seem to get overtaken by the next batch and never get done! Thanks for your constructive comments.

Hi all,

i've a few C/Y fit lenses from my 35mm days which i'd like to try on my K-x. There are several sellers online offering such adaptors now. Has anybody else any personal experience of this and could possibly make a recommendation...or alternatively warn me off if it didn't work out?

many thanks

Karlo

A few more from yesterday. Mainly bits and pieces of planes rather than the complete article...in part due to the cramped hangars, lens focal length and because I like focusing on the detail! Lens did a sterling job
in often very difficult lighting.

Very nice set Andrew. I actually like the foreground in No.4...has a look of a painting rather than a photo which i like.

Very beautiful place.

It isn't a bad price for the K5II body. A company called Digital Depot, though is doing it even cheaper at £499 body only including a 2 year warranty.

Wilkinson Cameras (several branches in NW England) are doing the K5II with 18-55DA WR for just £550
or £558.50 delivered.

SrS are doing the K5IIs body only for £599.

I usually check the website www.camerapricebuster.co.uk for up to date special offers and cheapest prices on all photo and video gear. For some reason they don't include SrS Ebay pricing which is often cheaper than their normal website pricing but they are generally quite accurate and informed.

I thought i'd leave the kit zoom at home and rely solely on the 50mm manual. A bit of trial and error involved with the varying levels and quality of internal light but i have to say I really love the colour rendition of this lens and it suits the K-x perfectly.
