I got it replaced on Monday with a new one. SRS is delivering the 2nd body on thursday. )

I've owned and used both of these lenses. The 70mm is one of the best lenses I've used in 40 years of professional photography, matching my all time favourite Nikkor 180 f.2.8 and 85mm f1.8, if not my Hasselbald 150mm.

The 15mm is a lovely small lens but my 12-24mm was so much sharper that I found myself hardly ever using it.

Both are beautifully made and a joy to use. My experience mirrors all the tests I read. For good performance the 15 needs stopping down to f8. At f4 it's quite soft as all the tests say, though the distortion is low

Really? I had been under the impression that the DA70 was very good, but not that good! I'd been attracted to it before, but put off by two depth of field-related issues: that I'd end up wanting an FA77, and also that with the DA70 being 'only' f2.4 my 100 macro could match it for bokeh given the slightly longer focal length.

A macro lens. Any suggestions?

"Could" doesn't mean "would". I like photography, and it's also part of my income, but it will never replace the thrill I get out of flying.

I'm happy with my current lens line-up now after a bit of recent spending...the K5 is definitely my next purchase but I'm delaying it a while longer as prices seem to be rising - it would give me added confidence if the FF issue was definitely sorted too.

I can only speak from personal experience. One thing that 40 years professional experience has taught me is that lenses, same make, same type, vary. Not a lot provided the QC is good but they vary nonetheless.

It was my regular practice to try several examples of a given lens when I was buying (when a pro) and pick the one I wanted. I do the same thing when I buy a guitar - they vary in the same way.

A good pro dealer will let you do this - but you can't expect to buy at discount prices!

Depends what I happen to see on ebay... it keeps changing! An A* 85mm f/1.4 would be nice, but then so would a K200/2.5. Luckily, I have never seen an A* 1200 on ebay so I might be safe there. Ffordes have a couple of 28mm shift lenses which are very tempting, and then there is that mega-selection of LXs, lenses and other kit on ebay at the moment (still at $4000 last time I looked but hadn't reached its reserve).

Seriously, though, I need to use the kit I have a bit more, especially the Horseman. My biggest temptation would be a 6x7 but then once I have the body I'll need some lenses, won't I? Most of my so-called spare cash has gone on getting films developed lately!
