Now there is the feature I have been waiting for - green 'runway' lights down the hand grip - wow
On the plus side - there's one that will not be costing me anything!

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

It's difficult to tell on these photos but I don't see any pop up flash which for a entry level camera I would think the type of buyer would want???????????????????
CHEERS Vic.

Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

I find the design quite interesting - in a K-01 kind of way.
Don't get the lights in the grip if they're purely aesthetic, however, since they'll be hidden when held, unless they're a slightly ott activation mechanism? Light sensors recognise that you've picked up the body and start up the camera?

On the subject of the grip lights, in the picture where they're shown there's a green light around the shutter button. In the top down picture that light round the shutter button is red. Wonder if it's a stand-by mode?
Also, the more I look at this, the more I like it, especially if it had any of the pan-cake lenses mounted. Potentially a great small form-factor full APS-C combo.

I'd be happier if this device had Ricoh written across the top instead...
As others have commented, they obviously don't want my money.

I think you have to realise that we are a very small part of the market. This camera will be attractive to many in China, Japan and similar markets. Just as all the colourful options of other cameras are.
I am just happy they are still making DSLRs for beginners, and if it is small and lightweight, which is something Pentax used to be well known for, then it can only be a good thing. It could then compete perhaps with the increasingly popular mirrorless options.

Having seen a friend's Sony entry level dSLR, I rather like that new look.
The mode dial around the four-way dial looks nice, I don't mind the extra LEDs, and I think it looks rather smart
Not for me though, but I can see a market for it.
