I doubt it's a fake, different views in white now online

I expect there is an option to turn off the lights. Those in the handgrip may function as a self timer countdown. I can imagine all lights are only on for a second when it starts up.

I thought the design was quite "enlightening"

But it might go down like a LED balloon.

Cheers.

No - I think it'll be popular with long exposure photographers ...

...it's got 5 "Bulb" settings

This seems a great little camera to me. As long as one can switch those idiotic little green lights off.

Would be very nice as a second carry anywhere camera.

I am looking forward to it.

I bet it is going to be a great little camera, and a more conservative looking sibling is already on the way...
I really do hope this thing is wi-fi, after shooting with the new Iphone 5s, go-pros and samsung nx's I am sure Pentax could build the first d-slr that bridges the gap between slr and mirrorless/csc/smartphones....
there are some tricks these other cameras do that would be awesome on a d-slr..
pulling out your phone click on app and set live view, tethering and being able to select af points, exposure, wb, shooting modes, other settings etc while the camera is several feet away on a tripod has many many uses from nature, to studio, to group shots.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

In the top view is that a video Icon on the on off switch?
is that why it's glowing red? Usually video is denoted in red right?

my guess, two step video recording...
step one, turn power switch one click to enter video mode, led around shutter turns red... push shutter to REC. default video mode would be tav keeping the closest settings to what the camera had when you turned the power dial... example the aperture would stay the same, the shutter speed would change if needed and iso would compensate to bring the EV value to whatever you were shooting in still mode..
that's how I'd have designed it

Be interesting to hear about features, but packaging aside, what is really new here?
Wifi built in would be new for Pentax, but that's not revolutionary in the market these days for instance.
A first glance these reads as a k-500 update?

if it's got 4k video (pre release specs have been wrong in the past - it could happen) and 1080 at 30 fps is going backwards for those not familiar with other pentax cameras video abilities... but 4k/30 would be rockin! (even if it was via hdmi out port only)
it could still wind up besting the k3 in image quality/noise issues with less pixels but bigger pixel sites...
and be a precursor to a new line..... who knows? maybe....
but adding wi-fi and a handful of features from Samsungs nx series could in fact be revolutionary for d-slrs... best of both worlds really, for a video shooter...
