went back today... quiet-ish office, but enough going on to keep me out of trouble.

At least you get a gritter in your road!

Our road is still pretty exciting to drive down, and freezing night-time temps don't do much to improve it. Our road never gets treated, and currently only the major routes through the town are being done due to a huge salt shortage.

signs appeared on our street tonight saying "move your car by 7am or it will be towed as we are clearing snow" (€60 towing charge...) then when I got back from the sledding hill with my daughter, they were clearing the other side of the road ?! Ah well, at least I have somewhere to put the car, even if it does appear to really, really need a new battery

well, despite the weather forecast we have no snow, the bike battery is almost charged and I'm ready(?) for work.

I might take a folding camera with me today, it's not a good idea to carry a DSLR on the bike as they don't like the vibrations much.

Set off early for work, forgetting that the schools were still off. In the office for 7.30!

Mind you, it's supposed to be a Public Holiday in Scotland. Most of the big companies now take the English holidays but the transport network doesn't. It really is time we all took the same holidays!

... and fixing Easter is exactly the wrong way to go about it as the rest of Europe still takes it "correctly". I don't see that changing any time soon, either.

It's fun when you're in Germany and one Bundesland has a holiday and another one doesn't - and you live in one and work in another...

Set off early for work anticipating watching the solar eclipse. Sun failed to make an appearance despite promisingly golden backlit clouds. Still late for work

No sign of the eclipse here either - a promising golden stripe but gone before the sun got there. Others in the Netherlands did get to see it.

A little cloudy round here (which may have actually helped) but I managed a few shots.

Didn't feel the earth move last night, I was sat in a comfy sofa with a cat and glass of beer.

I can't imagine any scientific mechanism for that to be the case so I will have to keep experimenting. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

I'm reminded of the tale of the baker on the Titanic, who as the ship began to go down decided he was going out in style and got sozzled, before throwing deckchairs overboard as makeshift rafts and then stepping off the stern as it went under. He survived despite spending hours in the freezing water!
