Managed to grab a few quick shots of the eclipse this morning, it was a little cloudy but that may have actually helped reduce the brightness a bit. As it was these were taken at 300mm, f45, 1/8000s, ISO 80

Plus one that shows my K5 sensor stains

I'm glad someone got some shots! It was too cloudy to even try here. Now of course we have blue sky .

I can't see your sensor problem but that is probably my screen (on the netbook!)

You both need your eyes tested Just kidding, the spots are a bit dim in this image, although perhaps because I know they're there I can see them from a couple of feet away even at this small size. It's a diagonal line of spots in the centre of that grey rectangle, running top left to bottom right. The length of the diagonal is about half the height of the rectangle.

Copy the area in the grey rectangle and paste it into the photo editor of your choice. Twiddle with brightness and contrast - and you'll see a number of small spots, each only a handful of pixels, running top left to bottom right.

I cannot see them on my (calibrated) Dell monitor in the image as actually posted.

Here's an enlarged version. I haven't twiddled with brightness or contrast. Can you see it now?

Now I seem them - the classic string of pearls.

I take it you are arranging to exchange it?

Back on topic did you use a filter for your photos?

Yes, I was waiting until after Christmas so will probably (re)contact SRS this week.

I didn't use a filter, only because I forgot to

I saw them Tim, for those who didn't there is a very handy tone scale at the bottom of this page to check your monitor is correctly calibrated.
Didn't get to see the eclipse cloudy here in S. Wales.

My monitors are correctly calibrated by that scale, but I could only see the pearls in Tim's enlarged version.
