Not the best way to spend NYE Gareth, but I am sure she will get the best care there. I shall be thinking of you and your lovely daughter this evening.

Merry new year - the UK has another hour and a half - I'm going to crack open a bottle and process some fireworks shots (and they look *gooood* on the wee LCD...) which of course means nothing

Best bit was the fact that the town fireworks finale pair were so high *no-one* could see them as the clouds are so low

Back home now - official diagnosis was a stomach bug! She's been on deaths door all day, at doctors again she still really poorly, gets to hospital and makes miraculous recovery to make you look like a right plum!
Glad to hear she's improving!

Weirdly I occasionally have the same thing - once I know what's actually wrong with me my subconscious starts making me feel better.

kids are good at that kind of thing

Anyway, now you can enjoy the last few minutes of 2010 with some free fireworks (though I'd like to know how you can get fireworks OoF, as I've managed it...)

The only reliable way I've found to shoot fireworks is with the 18-55mm set at infinity (switch to manual focus) and 18mm. It was a bit damp and miserable to get the tripod out last night and I only let off a handful of rockets before going to bed!

that's why I'm called "isi" or "papa". I really didn't want to be "daaaaaaad!"

I'm depressed.

I decided to have a bit of garlic bread with my dinner so I got one out of the freezer and put it into the oven. Come the time to serve up, I got it out of the foil and looked at it - no cuts across it. Then it struck me. Last time we had garlic bread, because we find most ready made ones a bit disappointing I had bought a couple of those half baked baguettes and put the good stuff in myself. Then I had put the other one in the freezer and that was what I had this evening.

Still, having a drop of cider this evening to make up.

Best trick I've found for garlic bread? 4-packs of ciabatta rolls from Tesco. You have the first one or two as panini (while they're still fresh) then turn the rest into garlic bread (doesn't matter if they're a bit stale that way).

Sorry TT, I just thought that the festivities had kept most of us in bed until later in the day.

As for hangovers, yes I did have one, but it was worth it.

Ah well it's back to the grindstone tomorrow.

First days work since Christmas eve and my bike's battery is on charge, with a bit of luck she'll fire up in the morning. I've been using the car since the snow started, so it'll make a change getting out on the bike.

Husband back to work today. Got to get used to the quiet around here again!

The paths in the woods are a nightmare - sheet ice and so hard even my grippy things can't bite into it in places.

Everywhere else the snow is almost gone, but those paths are lethal.

We're not expecting snow her, but a gritter has just gone up the road!

That's pointing to ice on the ground in the morning, and me back on a bike.

Oh well!
