A couple of Q10/05 pictures and a question...

I as having a browse through the usual web-sites and found a used 05 Toy Lens Telephoto for £20 - list price is about £70, though Wex do them new at £35. What the heck I thought, why not? Of course, the day after, I found SRS were selling new ones for the same price! Anyway, between shower...

A couple of Q10/05 pictures and a question...

For a £20 new lens, that's not bad at all. It might be better to ask your questions in the Mirrorless Cameras section. But since I'm here, here are some thoughts. I don't have the Q10/05 but can confirm that Q and Q-S1 bodies with 03 'toy' fisheye lens do not give the Morse code sounds you de...

Photographing Mushrooms & Toadstools

Errrr -Correction- £10 from Amazon :) Thanks for that. I was beginning to think that your idea of cheap wasn't the same as mine! Steve Ha, im particularly cheap :) an upcoming video im hoping to demonstrate DIY Pin Hole on a DSLR, which I know its a bit marmite, but my mind has been blown away on...

Moss Macro

The tip of the sporangium, its spores having been scattered earlier this summer. The sporangium itself, shown here, is about 4mm. long, on top of an 18mm "stalk". Reproduced 4:1 on the sensor. K5, 50mm reversed on 200mm. Combine ZP. Elements 11. Thanks for stopping by to look. An...

The Kiln Bridge at St Johns.

Lovely shot Peter - I'd like to say it's all down to the quality of that beautiful lens, but I know the photographer has an even more quality eye 8) Haha, you are far too kind John Interestingly enough this photo almost never saw the light of day. I stepped out yesterday afternoon with K1 + you...

Christmas Tree Lights (abstracts)

Playing around with imaging the lights and decorations on our tree using K-50/ 100mm f2.8 macro WR/ tripod. Deliberately looking for abstract images mixing colour/light/bokeh/focus. Most of the images fall short of the optical viewfinder image due mainly I think to inability of sensor to captu...

An epiphany

I have always expressed a dislike of black and white photos where the option of colour is available; an oil or watercolour painter doesn't paint in monochrome, that is the preserve of media such as charcoal and pen and ink, so to my mind a colour sensor falls into the same category as a palette. I e...

Macro

There is a lot of Garlic Mustard flowering near us at the moment. Out with the dog first thing this morning picked a (small) piece to snap. On looking closely-ish at home, noticed a small orange dot. The egg of Orange Tip Butterfly. Through the K5, 50 reversed onto 200, on the tube/Bellow...

Not Working At Home

Thanks folks. perhaps try and tease a bit of colour into the sky I've had a go at getting something from the sky, but there's nothing there other than a bit more of the sickly yellow that's on the left. This is a crop, the sun is just beyond the top right corner, shining through hazy sky then a dus...

Coulsdon Common Woods

Welcome back, Nigel. Good to hear from you again. I agree that your woodland shot looks better with a black surround - but it's still very dark! I flirted with using my mobile phone as my "walkabout" camera and trying to do more serious things with it, but came to much the same conclusions as you...

Malta (3)

Hello everyone, here are the last images I have edited from my short stay in Malta last summer. Not a coherent set, just the last few that made it before cleaning out the folder... The first three were in the hallway to a (closed) museum I took refuge in from a downpour. The skylights had thes...

Elder Flower and Bug

This afternoon's experiment in the garden was to see how well the Irix 150mm macro and Pentax Q-S1 would play together. The subject was a temptingly low cluster of flowers on the elder tree. The wind around the flowers was gusty but a sprig of flowers (not an entire cluster) was held in place by a n...

Flower shot with the M* 300mm f4

The strong sunlight directly at my right meant that it was a foggy blur (I wear glasses). Lovely picture, well worth fighting through adversity! Have you tried a right-angle finder in those situations? Looking downwards rather than forwards can sometimes be enough to get rid of blur from the sun...

Venice in Monochrome - Part 2

Part 2 of the trip to Italy in 2018 - Hope you enjoy some of them. I think our photography can change and evolve, I find myself questioning my self imposed rules and "standards" more and more - and one of the main reason I re-visited these (and the first set) is because on my first pass through...

Happy birthday Rio

The big question now is whether you know his moods like no dog can... Steve Most of the time I can read him like a book. We have hilarious moments when I know I need to step in to stop him getting into trouble (dog fight or mud bathing), and he will look at me knowing that I am going to put...

Fast Flowers

😀 maybe Pentax will implement some sort of sensor shift anti flatulent filter or AFF in the new k series camera , we could all benefit 😉👍 Hope I didn’t make you paranoid 🙄🤔☺️

Solent Scene

K7, K5, K3, K1... 7 was where that all started, so it's a real must that the K7 keeps going strong and performing as the true original flagship that it is! I don't think the significance of the new model was perhaps fully appreciated at the time (2009). I saw evidence that many of its innovations...

Evaporated Crystals of Thiourea....

Evaporated Crystals of Thiourea....

The first picture was impressively interesting, but you've now revealed a fascinating exploration of a miniature, alien landscape. Such a huge variety and all done so artistically, too. :D I hope that Mrs. C. appreciates your efforts with her silver cleaning fluid - or was she expecting you to cl...
