Hebden Bridge on an *istD
Great show event today at Hebden Bridge. The weather was superb. Shot three variants of digital film. *istD, K5-IIs and K3 SE. All having different sensor characteristics, just like using different film emulsions. The following are all *istD blue purple green web buskers ...

Pentax 20-35mm f/4 on the K-1
I'm sure that some older lenses will be superb on the K-1, others will be OK and some may well be under par, just because they were not designed with digital sensor requirements in mind. Wide angles won't be telecentric (parallel light rays exitng the back of the lens) so may in some cases deliver l...

The Siege of 1216
Never been to one of these; interesting set of images! Thanks Andy, I can highly recommend it, our kids both really enjoyed it despite be quite young (almost 3 & 1), lots of older kids around us too getting into it. Away from the arena stuff the rest of the castle and grounds was all decked ou...

First Three from Studland Heath
Yes, a K-1. Also has composition adjustment which is manual moving of the sensor vertically, horizontally, or rotate but this must be done in live view. I only knew about this feature in a review somewhere which said it could obviate the need for a tilt/shift lens but I'm not sure about that. Great ...

First Few from the D FA 28-105
Yes indeed. The good lenses were never cheap but it's a shame Pentax ruined their reputation with some horrible cheap plasticky things. I think when they started producing the FAJ's they were trying to improve the quality as I purchased a bargain 18-35 and its truly fine on the K-1 and a tiny frac...

Kensington with the New 28-105
Nice demonstration, McGregNi. I reckon that coupled with a teleconverter this lens will cover about 75% of normal requirements, but I can't find evidence that the 1.4X will give good sharpness over the whole 35mm sensor size at all focal lengths. Hopefully a new one will be issued some time.

Kensington with the New 28-105
Thanks, yes I'm sure looking forward to being able to use it on a 35mm sensor .... its a way off for me for now, but I'm still going to enjoy it and try and make it earn its keep on the K7

A Few Mx-1 Shots in Italy
Whilst in Trieste I decided to only use the Mx-1 for all my shots, rather than taking out a DSLR. Some of these were in very dim and testing conditions, so they are pushing the little sensor to its limits. The F1.8 lens helped and I think the little marvel has performed rather well? These image...

Menorca with the MX-1
We seem to have a 'Battle of The MX-1's in the Med' going on here!! I bet you're glad you picked up that replacement one Andrew .... obviously its come in handy again. I like the character of the burnished, sunbaked tones you've captured, giving a real visual flavour of the place. I like the clos...

K1 and HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mmF4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE
Is this taken in crop mode? It's not a FF lens is it? Full frame :-) Interesting, given that the image is full frame and the lens is designed for APS-C sensor coverage it doesn't do a bad job. I can see some corner vignetting, this must be where the lens image circle doesn't extend to cover the full...

A Bit of a Challenge
I watched an interesting video on YouTube a while ago which suggested that if you wanted to improve as a photographer you need to get back to basics. This meant using a fixed focal length 35mm lens for a day and nothing else. I decided to give this a go last week when we went to North Wales. I du...

A Bit of a Challenge
What a superb set of images Andrew. Not sure how I've missed them when you posted. The CCD sensor just shines right through with a deep, colour rich appearance. Best regards

A Bit of a Challenge
A truly glorious set of images, amongst the best set I think we've seen on the Forum. 'At Low Tide' is an absolute classic. I agree with Gary on the colours and richness the sensor has produced, but also think the photographer and the rather special Pentax-M 28mm 3.5 have played a huge part in m...

Saturday night in Newcastle
I like them. The spots you mention are dust specks on your sensor. If you examine some of the others you will see they are there in just the same places. Have a read of your manual regarding clearing them.

Some 645z shots
" I think the gentle tonality and incredible detail is apparent tho :) " Fully agree, the detail the sensor produces is superb and the tonality is great, a superb piece of kit for landscapes and portraits / nudes

Long Mynd Sunset
Thanks for the comments, slightly retouched version of 1. posted below. For info, all these photos are single shots, not a merge of multiple exposures. It's still amazing how much shadow detail can be pulled out of the K5 sensor. by , on Flickr

More Kingfisher photos - sorry!
The K3 II certainly does enable very usable crops vs the same situation with a K5. I have just got the hang of capturing birds by virtue of staying with someone who has them flocking to her bird table but I found myself wishing for my K3 for its bigger sensor and better auto focussing. You can only ...

The new D FA* 70-200 zoom at Beamish
No JAK, I don't have a K1 but although the lens is designed for full frame it works well enough on my crop sensor cameras, the 200 giving me 300mm. David
