I had the MX-1 awhile back, does the Q have the same sensor? Top photos great, what lens did you use?

Bempton Cliffs 2017
Nice shots, well done in difficult conditions. No. 5 is my favourite I'm going there in June, any tips? Try to pick a day with an offshore wind. We got a lot of bums yesterday. Take a warm, windproof coat the sun was out yesterday but the drop in temperature on the edge was amazing. This time...

testing the K3 II
The only complaint I have with mine is that the playback zoom button (ISO button) is right next to the shutter release so that when you try to zoom, you inadvertently cancel the entire playback by hitting the far larger shutter release. Have you tried some hard crops yet? That big sensor really cap...

An afternoon out with the K-3II and a couple of lenses. (Image Heavy)
Many thanks for the comments, appreciate it. David, I don't exactly dislike the K3II, I specifically bought this one for aircraft and have yet to try it properly, I just prefer the extra leeway the smaller sensor gives on the K5IIs in most situations.

An afternoon out with the K-3II and a couple of lenses. (Image Heavy)
The K-5iis is a GREAT camera and always has been, but I don't prefer it to my K-3. It has some advantages such as marginally better low light sensor performance, but all round I think the K-3 is a better camera. In any case, I will say I don't think these shots would be bettered with any K-5 varia...

Chess
Cheers guys, it was an enjoyable little experiment. The setup was really basic. Led sensor light sitting on the floor, a bin and a coffee table to hold a piece of mdf that i had rebated to hold the glass chess board, and a black sheet under the glass but over the board. Light fall off did the re...

Happy Birthday *istD
My *istD is thirteen years old this month. So I decided to give it a run out and since it was a happy occasion I put an unused SMC Pentax-FA 1:4-5.6 28-105mm lens up front. I haven't used the body for quite a while and it's refreshingly different! It's nearly like shooting film with the images looki...

Happy Birthday *istD
Some lovely detailed shots with rich, natural colours. There is something about the way CCD sensors render a scene. Pity they died out. Imagine what they'd be like now with ten years of development. Most of us don't bother about video (I think) and I bet they'd have found a way to improve high ISO p...

Happy Birthday *istD
I don't think I've ever used a calibrated colour space on any of my images. I did have a look at the Leica comparison and have no problem with the guys results. However, when I open images from my *istD or K10 or Minolta 7D in PS, I do see a noticeable difference in appearance between those and my C...

Happy Birthday *istD
No calibrated colour space here, and I miss the CCD sensor. Sadly my *Ds died when His Nibs left it loose on the back seat of the car and braked suddenly for a Yokel Yank driving a tractor who pulled out across the road without looking. Camera went flying and died .

Mach Loop - Tornado
Is there any website that you would recommend to get an idea of when is a good time and place to go ? Agree with 1stEverPentax, Cad West is an easier climb, still tough but shorter, you can drive up to East, but there's only a few parking spaces and you have to know where to go up a lane through fa...

Llantwit Major beach
Thanks both! You're the first to mention 5 & 6 which are my favourites also 8) Cleaning the tripod out of sand was a b!#$h of a job, several showers later, a can of compressed air and some light purpose oil and it's all as it should be but what a nightmare! Wish I hadn't sold my 190Pro legs now a...

HDR
Pixel Shift and HDR are two different things. HDR refers to High Dynamic Range, which involves taking multiple shots at different dark to bright exposures, and then combining the details from each of them. It's like focus stacking, but for details of different brightness's. Pixel Shift refers...

Return of an oldie
That's me (only temporary, I'm afraid) and a Pentax of mine... I know I stopped being a Pentax DSLR user some time ago when I went m4/3 (though I did acquire a Nikon D80 recently and have been using that a bit, but that’s another story), however… I was doing some tidying up yesterday and came ...

600mm for less than £180...aviation subject matter.
Had my first outing yesterday with a newly acquired Pentax Convertor K T6-2X matched with my venerable Tamron 70-300 Di LD. Location was an airfield in Cheshire where my son was having a flying lesson on a fixed wing microlight. I did experiment with focal lengths combined from about 350-600. ...

London Lumiere 2018
It looks like a good lens / body combination - although the lens has not had unanimously stellar reviews. How have you experienced it to date? I am loving the 24-70 on the K-1. I have nothing but excellent results from it and so far is my most used lens. The focal length range is just right for t...

Tonight's Supermoon (31 Jan 2018)
Just thought - anyone with a K1 could try crop sensor in aps-c mode which is like a teleconverter on an FF lens. If it’s clear again i’ll give it a go. Very least I could manually focus better.
