To get the equivalent APSC file size of 16mp you need a FF sensor capable of 36mp (D800). Owch. ....and more computer storage and more processing power (I still miss the speed and ease of processing the excellent 5MP files I used to get from my Olympus E-1). And if we're talking dSLR, some compara...

To get the equivalent APSC file size of 16mp you need a FF sensor capable of 36mp (D800). Owch. It's quite likely that the lower resolution image will have less noise and might actually produce a preferable result. Images from a K100D don't always look worse than those from a K-5 despite the lesser...

You could always ask Honda to make a 3.2 Litre version! I'm sure they will oblige! -- One thing I wouldn't do is go around saying that the 2.4L vtec version doesn't offer any performance benefits and therefore isn't worth considering. I'm happy with a midrange car and a midrang...

The 'better' really isn't for general, middle ground photography. My K5 at ISO100 or 200 is very good indeed and any improvement really would be fairly marginal for a large additional outlay. The benefits I think manifest themselves in more specialist areas. High ISO is essential for certain situ...

Reading into the Sony A7 above, it makes for some interesting ideas/discussions: They've got a FF sensor at 24mp, which is on a par with the new K3 resolution. And you've obviously got to have FF capable lenses to mate with this larger sensor. Old school glass would obviously have this covere...

"SmeggypantsBut increasingly I've leaning towards shooting actual non photographic events in my life, but aiming to do it in a more than just a snapshot type of way. For this size does matter. I know where you are coming from, but I see a real compact as filling that need, not a mirrorless. Rea...

Personally I really like EVF's. It's not comparable to looking at an lcd screen at all, as it's not affected by ambient light. The one on my Nex 5N is superb, it gives a perfectly clear image, plus it gives you a view of what the sensor is actually capturing rather than what the eye sees. For IR an...

RAW files have never been totally 100% RAW as a certain amount of processing is needed to make sense of the Bayer grid info and merge it into a full colour image at every pixel site. Of course, but there's a sensible threshold with this surely? Is anyone that much of a RAW purist in that they want c...

I've never used an EVF (Pentax don't make one and it's really off topic on this forum) but I'd be very surprised if the electronics could cope with say and f/1.2 lens and a whitish subject without stopping down the lens. Hopefully Pentax will never make one and I'll never need to know. Edit:...

RAW files have never been totally 100% RAW as a certain amount of processing is needed to make sense of the Bayer grid info and merge it into a full colour image at every pixel site. point of pedantry, that is actually handled by the raw converter, some converters give you a choice of algorithms for...

I Edit: Possibly the Sony EVF does not close the aperture, which must restrict the range to that of the sensor. Don't look at the Sun. -- shouldn't really look at the sun though an OVF either, you'll burn a rather more precious sensor if you're not careful!
