back to FF .... .... Pentax film SLRs have been very, what I could call, compact. Perhaps Pentax should makes something that looks like the Pentax MX-1, has Pentax K mount like the Pentax K-01 and has the, cough, Sony 24MP FF sensor. Hmmmmm Pentax!

I just wish we knew whether a FF camera will come out or not....I've been putting off buying a K5iis for ages in the perhaps vain hope that there's something with a bigger sensor in the pipeline. Eventually I'll probably just give up and migrate to another system, with all the hassle (22 lenses ...

I'm arguing for a mirrorless FF camera with a new mount (and adapter for K lenses) but there is no sense in changing the mount for dSLR bodies, APSC or FF. What would you like this new mount to offer that the K mount doesn't have? Should they force the angle of light to be too close to the sensor an...

It seems, suddenly it is possible to make even Compact FF cameras. Quite a few posts ago, the majority of you assumed a FF K5 equivalent would need to be just about as big as to need a wheelbarrow to drag it around. So much for consistency. There is no reason not to build a FF exactly the size o...

gwing, assuming you could have a camera 8mm thinner, in what way would you find that an advantage? What is the benefit as you see it? It would increase the number of times I was prepared to carry it around, especially if that camera was my K01 and I could slip it into a normal non-enormous pocket. ...

Like many of these threads it has turned into what we want from Pentax in the future, but as you are aware, what we want and what we get are two very different things. What is for certain, whatever Pentax bring out next half of us will be jumping for joy and the other half jumping ship. Thats ...

There is no reason not to build a FF exactly the size of a K5. All it requires is a larger mirror and a larger focusing screen in front of a FF sensor. And a larger Anti-shake mechanism, which requires more room inside the body, which means the electronics have to be shoved somewhere else, which me...

Dan wrote: Yes, the crop factor is 1.5x, but that's the linear dimensions, not area. FF (36x24mm) is 2.25x the size of APS-C (24x16mm), so you actually need the D800's 36Mp sensor in order to get the same pixel density as the 16Mp sensor in the K-5. A 24Mp FF sensor would give a 10.6Mp image if cro...

Latest reports I've seen on Dpreview indicate declines in all sectors of the camera market. 'Consumer' grade Compacts collapsing catastrophically, mid & high CSC types struggling to gain any foothold, higher end DSLR types holding up better (but with much lower numbers obviously). The money woul...

In fact the performances of personal device cameras is goign to get even better that it will eat into the APS-C market too. I think that's why one of Canon's executives was talking about FF being the standard for DSLRs in the future. And once that happens the economy of scale means that FF won't ...

Indeed as Mobile Phone cams destroy the compact market and even start to compete with larger cameras by offering a decent IQ coupled with transportability then the semi-Pro DSLR market is goign to ahve to boost itself up a step to regain a market sector. To get the equivalent APSC file size of 16mp you need a FF sensor capable of 36mp (D800). Owch.
