Cleaning marks?
Just Been looking at a website on lenses, where the phrase 'cleaning marks' was used. Cleaning mark?... What's a bleedin' cleaning mark when it's at home? I have heard this expression before, but have never understood what it means. Is it some kind of euphemism for scratch? You know, like on ebay wh...

Cleaning marks?
I don't have one to show but I'd describe a "cleaning mark" as a scuff as opposed to a scratch (well, that's what I do on eBay listings anyway). I think of a scratch as something long and thin and deep (deep enough to go through the coating), a cleaning mark more of a faint blur - usually caused ...

Cleaning marks?
Ah, yes!. Thanks, Hefty. Sounds sensible. Makes me wonder what some people are using to clean their lenses, though... Vim?

Cleaning marks?
I buy and sell quite a few used lenses and you'd be horrified at the states some of them get into. I genuinely wouldn't be suprised if some folk out there weren't using scouring pads and Vim! :o

Cleaning marks?
Think of it a bit like a car washes effect on cars paintwork, after several washes you can see the fine circular scratching.

Fortnightly
Yeah, I can read a technical article about a new sensor at 3:22am but I can't get my mind around the fortnightly comp. :?

Artist or Photographer?
Obviously I take photographs, but I definately do post process some to the extent that they are abstract artforms. If you look in my portfolio (red, green and sensor noise) you will see what I mean. I also paint in oil on canvas and my next projects are to paint, to re-create these abstract photo...

How to submit photos to PPG for review?
I'll guess the last two points give reason for confusion. The term: accepted artists ?? IMO that is anyone who already has a picture in. But......I think we can all agree it is a bit obscure and non transparent. Their criteria are not predictable and I still see accepted pictures with sensor grud, w...

67 on front cover
I assumed that they were just stock pictures from some time ago and that's why she was using an older camera Ah but if you'd taken the time to check the EXIF you'd have discovered that the image is recent and was taken on a Nikon D3, and one with a rather grubby sensor at that:D

It sure is an ugly looking thing :? Why is the body so big on it :?: is that to accomodate the huge sensor :?: What size is the sensor by the way. :?: 39.5 MP is pretty unlikely you know because I'm 90% sure they will use a Kodak sensor (wanna bet?) and they don't have such sensor. The news went ...

did I hear about Pentax bringing out a full-frame SLR?
I firmly believe that Pentax will give us a full frame SLR soon. But then again, I also believe that Spurs will win the Premier league title, Jason Stathham will get an Oscar for best actor and Labour will win the next election. :D I think all of your beliefs have about an equal chance of being ful...

Photographer's rights gets a higher profile
It will contain a readable chip and a scanner sensor, I've already seen what they will look like, and we have already seen what this goverment can do in the past week without telling us what it was really upto, with RBS and £64,000,000,000 that they thought was nothing to do with us.

tamron 70 200mm f2.8
Surely 70-200 is a bit long for portraits? I don't take them but 70 is surely about as long as you need for an APS sensor? Nice lens if it's anything like my Tamron 17-50 for quality. (other)Mike

Compatible Canon ink carts?
I've got the Canon MP750. I swear by compatible ink carts from JetTec, which are about 20% the price of the Canon carts. However, I have read numerous times that it is the mixing of the genuine and compatible inks that causes blockages. Supposedly if you use compatibles from day 1 (which means d...

And all because I bought a K-x , more questions
Now as soon as Photomonk sees this is he going to be laughing fit to burst :) More thoughts needed from you all - on camera bags :) OK so I went to the US to collect my K-x - which I had bought from Adorama at a simply stupendous price - and with it came a collection of goodies too [ 8GB memor...
