Cleaning camera's and lenses!

I would be very careful with Isopropyl Alcohol as it will denature plastics. OK for metal.

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

You can use Isopropyl Alcohol  Is that the proper name for vodka? Only the cheaper brands. I share John's reservations.

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

A soft well washed clean cloth is what I use no solvents, I also have a old paint brush with the handle cut off and have used it from around 1975 to sweep off any dust. Makeup counters sell a soft brush for face powder and that would also fine for dusting off lenses and cameras bodies, not on the le...

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

Female readers will hate me for this: Just add the list of camera kit to the household cleaning list and let the wife take care of it. I also request that the batteries be fully charged and a formatted card be installed. Best regards :D

Just add the list of camera kit to the household cleaning list and let the wife take care of it. Just dont complain when you find your camera in the dishwasher:shock: I hear "Finish" helps the lenses to sparkle:lol:

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

I use a pentax microfiber cloth, but mainly a Kenair air duster for the small places I can't reach with my finger... I use the compressed air also for dust on lenses, and it works a treat. Caution needs to be used when (if) you want to clean the inside of the camera, because the cold air can...

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

I haven't washed my K10D or lenses since getting them 2 years ago. If the lens element is dirty I use my shirt bottom :) Believe me, my kit has been in some 'orrible places, but just seems to self clean... except when shooting with fisheye, 4 inches from wet skateboard wheel, then the shirt got pr...

Cleaning camera's and lenses!

My excavation in Romania has the lightest, dustiest soil I have ever come across. It gets into everything. It is like talcolm powder. My K10D is fine. The kit lens has a slight nasty noise as you zoom... I just use a soft cloth on the body, with a little water if needed. Kris.

AF on K10D

Perhaps start off by cleaning the contacts on the lens and the camera body to see if that clears the problem.

Work horse

I've used my K10D + FA43 more than any other combo I've ever owned by a clear margin - although I can see the DA35 overtaking the FA43 within the next couple of years. Back in the film days I owned many, many cameras including SLRs from Rollei, Olympus, Minolta, Pentax (the 110) and Praktica (and...

Digital LX anyone ?

Reading through various posts on the forum the subject of the "Digital LX, MX, ME, Super A" get touched on from time to time, so I thought I'd start a discussion about it. I have always loved Pentax cameras from this era and would dearly love to have a digital camera that looks and feels just like o...

Digital LX anyone ?

An early Pentax digital experiment involved a MZ-S body and (I think) a Kodak sensor. I think they made the right decision to use neither that body, or that sensor. I am more than happy with the ergonomics of the K10/20D + grip combination.

Digital LX anyone ?

A digital LX would be difficult to make because you'd have to solve the problem of the way digital sensors reflect light first. True TTL flash metering works the same way as the LX's OTF metering and is notoriously inacurate on the few digital SLRs which actually suport it. This was "solved" for fla...
