Work horse

I accept that newcomers to photography may not have had the time or cameras to say, but which camera has been your work horse, your trusty steed?

Why and what lens is nearly always stuck on the front.

Mine is my first DSLR, my istD with a Sigma 70-200 EX on the front. I would go as far to say that my standard lens is a 70-200mm. I use that more than any other lens.

So what is your trademark body and lens? The one you can pick up and work with, without even thinking of how to adjust or set or dial in, just seamlessly go with the flow?

P30e for 12 years with the two kit zooms
Then various Fuji bridge cameras.
Then back to the fold with the K10D (bought with the 16-45 and 10-17), most often carried with the fisheye or m 50 1:7 and extension tubes.

So is it the 16-45 or the 10-17? If you have to ditch one, what would it be? Same issue as "no lens change shoots".

Go to a shoot. You know the location and subject matter etc but can only have ONE lens......

absolutely no question - keep the fisheye.
You simply never come home with nothing

Whereas with the 16-45 I nearly always come home with nothing. I don't know what it is about this lens; people swear by it, but I think it's a plasticky piece of s^*& and I hate it. Neither one thing or another

If the 50 and extension tubes counts as 1 lens I would probably keep that - again, always come home with something (and you can dismantle it and take exquisite portraits )

It was, for many years, my trusted, solid,
basic Zenit 12XP. I carried it everywhere and got good use out of my second hand Carl Ziess Jena 35mm lens.

Now it would be my K200d fitted with my Sigma 18-200mm. The lens may change when I get my new Tamron 18-250mm back.

Still have the Zenit and CZJ. The lens seeing use on the digital bodies on a regular basis.
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

Got to be my pair of ME Supers - had nothing but these from late 70's until Nov 05 when I bought a Finepix 9500.

I only ever had 6 lens - Pentax M 28mm, 50mm F2 and 135mm F3.5, Tokina 80-200 and 300mm F5.6 (a great disappointment) paid for by being an extra for the BBC in 1983 when I was otherwsie pretty skint and a 28-80 which I acquired sometime before our Aus trip in 2000.

Now have a very big collection of bodies and lens - many of which I've hardly used (but they complete a set).

As a recent convert to Pentax, Mine was my OM1. Virtually Oggyproof and capable of a very reasonable image. Bought it second hand in 1985 with a couple of lenses and it's still going strong. The mechanics are so smooooooth!

Yep, istD for me too, since I bought it a few months ago. Mostly used with a Pentacon 50mm f1.8 (with K adapter) and Pentax 28mm F f2.8 as the standard AF prime.

I've used my K10D + FA43 more than any other combo I've ever owned by a clear margin - although I can see the DA35 overtaking the FA43 within the next couple of years.

Back in the film days I owned many, many cameras including SLRs from Rollei, Olympus, Minolta, Pentax (the 110) and Praktica (and a Leica M6 rangefinder) but the camera that got used most of all was my little Rollei B35 (early German made model with Zeiss glass) - so easy to slip into a pocket, I could operate it blindfolded and it always took cracking photos. I'd love a digital version of that with a decent sized sensor.

My work horses for many years was my Super A and A50 1.7. Then a SFXn and F50 1.7. Now the K10D and kit 18-55 get the most use. Got lots of other equipment, but as most of my photography these days is "family snaps" you can't really go wrong with combination.

Cheers,

I took a Super A round the world in 1984, and to the Himalayas in 1994. Finally gave it away in 2004. I had more use, for a longer time, out of that camera than any other.

And that's just the core kit! To be honest, some of it is never used, and I ought to sell it. But the AF500s are wonderful for manual flash; I can't recommend them highly enough.

I suspect you have a fair bit of kit, if your monthly parcels from the US are anything to go by!

ETA: At your prompting, updated kit list.

It's not all "big" money stuff Gearge. I'm waiting for a Bush Hawk Pro system from Adorama, out of stock, it's for the Pentax and Nikon kit. Only the two trigger cables differ.

My problem George is since 1982, everything I've bought, I've kept.

Silly really.
